Golden Globe Nominations Don’t Include Superman, Marvel Films, or 2025’s Biggest Box Office Hits

Golden Globe Nominations Don’t Include Superman, Marvel Films, or 2025’s Biggest Box Office Hits

The Golden Globe nominations are out, and several of this year’s highest-profile blockbusters were nowhere to be seen.

James Gunn’s Superman didn’t make the list, despite being the #3 domestic film of 2025. Variety is already calling it a “snub.” WB also submitted it for contention, but it failed to be nominated.

Marvel was shut out as well. Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and Fantastic Four—all marketed as course-corrections for the MCU—failed to land a single nomination.

The top domestic box office performers also didn’t earn recognition. Minecraft (#1), Lilo & Stitch (#2), Superman (#3), and Jurassic World: Rebirth (#4) were completely absent.

Globe voters favored prestige dramas, international features, and art-house projects instead of major studio tentpoles. At #5 on the box office domestic charts is Wicked: For Good, which received nominations, and at #6 is Sinners.

Worth a mention is that WBD also launched Oscar campaigns for Superman, Minecraft and more.

The 83rd Annual Golden Globes will air live on Sunday, January 11, 2026 (8:00–11:00 PM ET / 5:00–8:00 PM PT) on the CBS Television Network and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.
