Marvel’s Fantastic Four bombed at the box office and now it bombs on Disney+. The streaming numbers confirm it.
Nielsen released its viewership data for the week of November 3–9, with Fantastic Four debuting on Disney+ on November 5.
The film generated only 556 million minutes viewed, giving it the lowest Disney+ opening for any MCU movie to date.
The number is below The Marvels, lower than Captain America: Brave New World, and even under Thunderbolts.
The viewership data further confirms that the audience simply isn’t showing up for Kevin Feige and Marvel’s post-Endgame approach.

A New Low Point for the MCU
Disney’s recent financial filings already revealed how much the company depended on last year’s theatrical record-breakers. Without Deadpool & Wolverine or Inside Out 2 to drive momentum, Marvel’s performance has grown weaker across both theaters and streaming.
The Fantastic Four reboot was supposed to be the franchise’s next major pillar leading to Avengers: Doomsday, but its Disney+ debut paints a different picture.
It’s likely no coincidence that Marvel pushed back the releases of both Doomsday and Secret War further from the flops of Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Cap 4, The Marvels, Quantumania, and all the Disney+ shows.
A 556 million-minute opening suggests soft engagement, little repeat viewing, and limited impact among casual audiences.
It also underscores how far Marvel has fallen from its peak on the platform, where films like Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise once dominated the charts.

What Nielsen’s Data Really Measures on Disney+
While some outlets try converting Nielsen minutes into “Complete Viewings Equivalent,” that method is unreliable.
Nielsen’s metric counts all minutes played — including partial watches, rewatches, and drop-offs — so any CVE estimate is almost always inflated and shouldn’t be treated as actual full viewership. Yes, that means the total views are actually less.
It’s also worth noting that Disney+ automatically enables Nielsen tracking across accounts, as Nielsen is the industry’s primary, standardized source for measuring real streaming engagement.
Below is a selection of MCU debuts on Disney+ and their Nielsen viewership.
