In a bit of a surprise, Disney just added a fourth untitled MCU movie to its 2028 lineup: December 15, 2028.
So much for scaling back.
While the narrative from Disney was that Marvel would be pumping the brakes on content — due to a string of flops on the big screen and on Disney+ — it looks like that slowdown might be temporary. Now it seems they’re going all-in again, just one year after Avengers: Secret Wars drops in December 2027.
And this lines up with Feige’s recent confirmation that the new “Age of Mutants” is officially kicking off, meaning the X-Men are finally coming to the MCU.

MCU 2028 Release Dates
- February 18, 2028
- May 5, 2028
- November, 10, 2028
- December 15, 2028
It probably should be said one of those earlier release dates could always be moved to that December release, but as of now, yep, the MCU has four movies coming out in 2028.

Didn’t We Learn This Lesson in 2021?
Marvel never released four MCU movies until 2021, when they released Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home. We all know how that worked out.
Feige’s post-Endgame approach has also been a big bust. As I just went over regarding what James Gunn said about Marvel, the industry excuse – which doesn’t hold up – is that mandating too much content for streaming is to blame for the death of various IPs and franchises. The real blame is putting the agenda ahead of story.
So now Disney is releasing four MCU movies in 2028? Pretty ballsy, but not surprising from Disney.

What are the Marvel MCU 2028 releases?
Obviously, we don’t know what movies they are but we can guess.
Again per Feige, it seems one or maybe more will be X-Men.
It’s probably a safe bet one will be Black Panther 3, which is confirmed to be released after Secret Wars.
Maybe another is Blade? As the original writer just laughed and said it isn’t hard to get Blade right.
I also wonder if one could be for Thor 5, also said to be happening.
How does X-Men, Black Panther 3, Blade, and Thor 5 sound for 2028?
Or better yet, I’d probably going with X-Men, Black Panther 3, Blade, and a solo Wolverine movie, as it has been rumored that similar to the comic, the MCU’s Wolverine won’t be a part of the X-Men team when they first kick off in the MCU.
What about Shang-Chi 2, you might ask? 7 years after the first movie which massively bombed? Maybe.

Up next from the MCU
Marvel only has three (3.5) movies coming out from now until December 2027:
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps: July 25, 2025
- Spider-Man: Brand New Day (Sony): July 31, 2026
- Avengers: Doomsday: December 18, 2026
- Avengers: Secret Wars: December 17, 2027
Will Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars rebooting the MCU breathe new life into Marvel? With four planned MCU release dates in 2028, it seems that Disney is banking on it.
