Nickelodeon brought the excitement of Bikini Bottom to New York Comic Con 2024 with a milestone panel celebrating the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants.
Legendary voice actors Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) joined executive producers Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller to give fans a sneak peek at what’s coming next for the iconic series.
The Patrick Star Show Renewed for Seasons Four and Five
Nickelodeon announced the renewal of The Patrick Star Show for both a fourth and fifth season (13 episodes each). The beloved spinoff, featuring Patrick and his quirky family, will continue to explore Patrick’s wild imagination and unexpected adventures. New episodes from season three are set to air throughout the year on Nickelodeon.
First Look at 25th Anniversary Specials
Fans were treated to a clip from the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants 25th anniversary special, “Snow Yellow,” set to premiere in November. In this half-hour episode, Snow Yellow is declared the “squarest of them all,” but evil Queen Karen is determined to steal the title by any means necessary.
Additionally, a special preview of “SpongeBob & Sandy’s Country Christmas” was unveiled. This stop-motion holiday special, premiering in December on Nickelodeon and Paramount+, features the Cheeks family trying to save Christmas in Bikini Bottom after one of Sandy’s experiments goes wrong. The voice cast includes Craig Robinson as Pa Cheeks and Johnny Knoxville as Randy Cheeks, alongside Grey Delisle reprising her roles as multiple members of the Cheeks family.
The Patrick Star Show Thanksgiving Special and More
In time for the holiday season, fans got a sneak peek at The Patrick Star Show’s Thanksgiving episode, “Thanks But No Thanksgiving,” where the Stars celebrate with Bunny’s side of the family in Klopnod. A first look at the “Squidina’s Holidaze Special” was also shared, where Squidina tries to direct her school’s holiday play despite Patrick’s antics.
Live Scene Reads of Fan-Favorite Episodes
In a highlight of the panel, the voice cast performed live readings of classic SpongeBob SquarePants episodes, including “Band Geeks” (season 2) and “Scaredy Pants” (season 1), to the delight of the audience.

Since its debut in 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has become a cultural phenomenon, spanning generations with its quirky characters, memorable catchphrases, and countless memes. It has also expanded into films, consumer products, a Broadway musical, and more, solidifying its place as one of the most beloved animated series of all time. The series was created by Stephen Hillenburg and continues to be produced by Nickelodeon.
