It’s claimed that the Mindy Kaling Velma animated series has been canceled, but that might not exactly be the case.
Update: IGN has confirmed with Warner Bros. that Velma is canceled:
“Over the past two seasons, Mindy [Kaling] and Charlie [Grandy] have created an incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise,” a Max spokesperson said in a statement. “While we won’t be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivaled clues, and hilarious hijinks.”

Warner Bros. hasn’t officially made an announcement.
Reports that Velma has canceled first surfaced as a result of Velma background artist, Davey Cummings, stating in his now-deleted Instagram post that “there will not be” a Velma Season 3. However, Cummings has since offered an update and now states he has no idea if there will be a third season.
In the deleted Instagram post, Cummings first said, “So fun working with this crew. There will not be a season 3, but I hope I get to work with these amazing talented people again one day. GO WATCH VELMA HALLOWEEN SPECIAL ON MAX!!”
Following having deleted the post, Cummings posted the following to his Instagram Story.
“Hey guys, thnx so much for the follow and likes. Just wanted to announce that I actually have no idea if Velma is getting a Season 3 or not. Please do not take my posts as directions that Warner is going in,” he said.
Velma is an adult animated series that was first released in 2023 and currently has two seasons and twenty-one episodes, which includes the recently released Halloween special, “This Halloween Needs To Be More Special!” The series stars Mindy Kaling as the voice of Velma Dinkley and is an alternate universe origin story for Mystery Inc. and a different take on Scooby-Doo.
The series has come under fire by fans for changing classic characters to fit with the agenda. It has a 10% fan score on Rotten Tomatoes.
