They say it’s three strikes and you’re out, well, Marvel’s Thunderbolts is going on out number four, so let’s hope this one sticks as it’s said a fourth actor is up to play The Sentry.
So following Steven Yeun bailing on the role after participating in a costume test, Dev Patel is said to have passed on the role, and then Austin Abrams is said to have passed on the role of The Sentry.
Power of a million exploding suns
Up to play the man with the power of a million exploding suns now? Lewis Pullman is said to be the top choice, according to THR, as first rumored by DCU leaks and Daniel RPK.
Update: It’s said Lewis Pullman is the MCU’s Sentry.
The actor is known for the Outer Range TV series, Lessons in Chemistry which stars Brie Larson, and Lewis Pullman played Lt. Robert ‘Bob’ Floyd in Top Gun: Maverick.
Regarding playing The Sentry and what all four of the actors have in common – obviously not muscles – the character’s alter ego, Bob Reynolds, is an addict who breaks into a lab and drinks a suped up version of the Super-Soldier serum which gives him his powers.
So it seems as if Marvel is casting the Robert Reynolds version of the character, and it remains to be seen how Marvel will create The Sentry in the MCU, though it should be said Antony Starr doesn’t look jacked in real life and he looks good as Homelander in The Boys, so keep that in mind.
Reportedly, Thunderbolts is set to begin filming soon, so there might not be enough time to get whichever actor lands the role enough time to say their prayers and take their vitamins.
Thunderbolts has a July 25, 2025 release date directed by Jake Schreier.
Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, the new Black Widow; Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier; Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent; Olga Kurilenko as Taskmaster; David Harbour as Red Guardian, and Hannah John-Kamen returns as Ghost, with Harrison Ford also rumored as Red Hulk from Captain America: Brave New World.
