Jonathan Majors Producers Fire Back After IATSE Strike, Say Daily Wire Movie Has Wrapped

After the trades ran with the story about Jonathan Majors falling through a window on the set of the new Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend action movie, the producers are now responding, saying production is finished.

In a video posted to X (watch below), producer Dallas Sonnier and Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro pushed back hard on the strike and the media coverage, while also saying the movie has now wrapped.

Ben Shapiro Says The Backlash Is About The Daily Wire

Shapiro, who is also producing the film, argued the controversy is not really about Majors, but about who he is making the movie with.

“Massive controversy has now broken out over the horrifying issue of Jonathan Majors being in an action movie and then he fell down and now the unions are mad… and we don’t really care very much,” said Shapiro.

Shapiro also said Hollywood and the entertainment media are trying to fight The Daily Wire because it is operating outside the traditional system.

“Hollywood would like to control everything sort of top-down in centralized fashion,” he added. “They’re upset that we’re operating outside their system and successfully doing so AND getting stars like Jonathan Majors to be in movies with us…As soon as we announced Jonathan Majors would work with us, all the articles were about how terrible it was for Jonathan Majors to work with us, not for us to work with Jonathan Majors.”

Dallas Sonnier Says The Movie Is Finished

Sonnier said the production kept moving after the incident and claimed the cast stayed on the job.

“Everything was fine, the actors continued to work throughout the day. They went to the hospital at the end of the day, got a couple of stitches, and you know what, we made an awesome movie,” said Sonnier.

He also blasted the union effort, denied that safety was the real issue, and said the production wrapped over the weekend.

“The funny thing is the unions tried to start picketing us and protesting, but they could only round up on a given day about seven people, and so they just looked like the bad recorder version of the Titanic soundtrack…they really embarrassed themselves,” said Sonner. “None of the safety concerns ever came up, this was all about money and power.”

He continued, “As I said in the article, we don’t negotiate with communists. And yes, the ‘how dare you’ crew descended upon us. Hollywood is in absolute freefall right now, and yet we’re making movies, we’re thriving, we’re doing great, and they are so mad about that that they’re just apoplectic – they’re like the girl in The Exorcist with their head spinning around. They’re so jealous they’re not invited to the party, so they came and tried to picket us, they tried to shut us down, and we just gave them a double-barrel middle finger and kept making the movie.”

Sonner added, “The movie’s incredible, we just wrapped over the weekend. I’m gonna post a crew photo – it’s 100 of us totally in solidarity – and the unions can go shove it.

What The Trades Reported

The latest reports said Majors and co-star JC Kilcoyne fell roughly six feet through a glass window while filming a scene for the untitled action movie backed by The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend. Reports also said Kilcoyne needed stitches on his hands, while Majors was said to be okay.

The strike itself was reported as having been called by IATSE on March 26 amid labor and safety complaints tied to the production. Multiple outlets said filming continued after crew members walked off, with replacements brought in.

Jonathan Majors Also Responded

Majors also addressed the incident over the weekend, telling TMZ he is fine and looking forward to people seeing the movie.

“I’m ok. I was happy to be on set and help tell the story. I am grateful for whoever is checking on me, the cast and crew for regarding our safety. It’s going to be a great movie and I am looking forward to fans seeing it!” said Majors.
