Gina Carano is opening up about the work it took to get back into fight shape ahead of her return against Ronda Rousey.
Carano posted on X that she weighed in at 141.4 pounds and has lost 100 pounds since September 2024.
The post comes one day before Carano faces Rousey in their live Netflix fight on Saturday.
Gina Carano Opens Up About Weight Loss
Carano called it a “vulnerable post” and said she wanted to share the update because of how much work went into the transformation.
“I just weighed in at 141.4 lbs,” Carano posted. “Since Sept 2024 to today, May 15, 2026, I have lost 100lbs.”
Carano said the weight loss did not happen overnight and came after more than a year and a half of work.
“It hurts to say that and share but I am going to share it because I worked so damn hard every week for over a year and a half to shed this weight,” she said.
Carano Says Ronda Rousey Fight Gave Her A Goal
Carano credited the fight with Rousey for giving her something to chase during the process.
“If it wasn’t for having this incredibly challenging goal in fighting @rondarousey I most definitely wouldn’t have reached this,” Carano said.
She also revealed she was pre-diabetic and had trouble walking in September 2024 before beginning what she described as a recovery process to become an athlete again.
Carano said the process included “ups, downs, plateaus” and a lot of trial and error, but she reached the goal.
Thanks Rousey For Waiting
Carano also thanked Rousey for giving her the time to make the fight happen.
“Thank you to Ronda, who waited patiently while I lost this weight and giving me something to aim for,” she posted.
Carano added that she still has more she wants to learn and do in the health space, but thanked God, her husband, and her family for sticking with her.
“I pray this encourages you wherever you are in your health journey,” she said. “Believe there is hope. Never give up.”
Carano ended the post by turning the focus back to Saturday.
“Ok.. enough emo, I’ve got a fight tomorrow. We’ve worked so hard to get here. Tune in!!”
Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano Fight Details
Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano takes place Saturday, May 16, live on Netflix.
Netflix announced the fight in February, calling it a live event featuring two MMA legends.
The event is tied to Most Valuable Promotions, with promotional material listing the venue as the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California. The fight has also been described as a 5×5 professional MMA bout.
Rousey previously called the matchup “the biggest super fight in women’s combat sport history,” while Carano said she was “looking forward to making this walk AGAIN!”
