Netflix has released the trailer for Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods anime which looks to be pretty awesome and just might be Snyder’s best thing he’s brought to the streamer.
And we have Jay Oliva, Snyder’s DCEU storyboard artist, to thank for that, who is known for most of the DC animated movies that are done really well. Oliva’s DC flicks include Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 and Part 2, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Justice League: War, Justice League Dark, and more.
“Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods follows Sigrid as she seeks revenge,” states the video description. “Coming to Netflix on September 19, 2024.” Watch below.
What is Twilight of the Gods about?
Twilight of the Gods is an animated twist on ancient Norse mythology featuring a star-stuffed cast which includes Sylvia Hoeks as Sigrid, Stuart Martin as Leif, Pilou Asbæk as Thor, John Noble as Odin, Paterson Joseph as Loki, Rahul Kohli as Egill, Jamie Clayton as The Seid-Kona, Kristopher Hivju as Advari, Peter Stormare as Ulfr, Jamie Chung as Hel, Lauren Cohan as Inge, and Corey Stoll as Hrafnke.
In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair, Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal king, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love.
On their wedding night, Sigrid and Leif survive a wrath of terror from Thor (Pilou Asbæk), which sets them — and a crew of crusaders — on a merciless mission for vengeance, against all odds.
This heroic story of love, loss, and revenge, is a journey to hell and beyond … across fantastical lands, battlefields fierce and bloody, and wars waged against deities and demons.
The series is co-created by Jay Oliva and Eric Carrasco, with Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Oliva also executive-producing. Zack Snyder, Oliva, Tim Divar, Andrew Tamandl, and David Hartman will all be directing episodes.
