With the Justice League Blu-ray and digital release looking likely to be made available starting some time next month, DCEU fans are also hoping for a Justice League Zack Snyder release.
Zack Snyder departed directing the Justice League movie due to a family emergency, but he did finish filming.
Joss Whedon was already on board doing rewrites, so when Zack Snyder left, he asked Whedon to take over the Justice League directorial duties.
Whedon came on board and reshot a lot of footage, and by all indications the theatrical release of the Justice League movie is more a Joss Whedon film than it is a Zack Snyder movie.
Now Batman vs. Superman cinematographer Larry Fong weighs in about a Justice League Zack Snyder release as he has been getting barraged by fans on Twitter.
“So many keep asking me about a Zack Snyder cut of Justice League. Once again, I did NOT work on the film in ANY capacity,” Fong tweeted, as Fabian Wagner had cinematographer chores on Justice League.
While Larry Fong wasn’t involved with Justice League, he offers in a second tweet that seemingly a Justice League Zack Snyder version could be released.
“However, if you look at past history, you’ll see he’s had his own cut on pretty much every film he’s done,” Fong said.

True to Larry Fong’s words, a quick check does reveal that many of the home releases of Zack Snyder’s films do feature a director’s or extended cut such as with Watchmen, Sucker Punch, Batman vs. Superman and Dawn of the Dead. Snyder’s 300 and Man of Steel look to be the director’s cut as Snyder originally envisioned them.
Hopefully this means eventually WB will release a Zack Snyder Justice League cut as it’s been said Snyder had at least a 3-hour version of the film, and it is known many of his original scenes were deleted including: A Henry Cavill Clark Kent scene in Smallville when Ma Kent pulls up in the truck; Clark is shown smiling; A Parademon scene; The Iris West deleted scene with Ezra Miller and Kiersey Clemons; Ray Fisher Cyborg scene; Another Ray Fisher scene as Victor Stone; Cyborg flying scene; A Cyborg computational scene of some sort; Justice League Mother box scene.
Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, with the story by Chris Terrio and Zack Snyder, the screenplay by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, and stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe an Atlantean, Nuidis Vulko.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
