Zack Snyder’s Superman Just Embarrassed James Gunn’s DCU

Fans on X are pointing out that Zack Snyder’s recent Henry Cavill Superman post — the one he labeled “undeniable” — has now surpassed James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow announcement on Instagram in terms of likes.

Currently, Snyder’s post has crossed roughly 767K likes in just four days, edging past Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow announcement from way back in September, which sits around 741K likes.

The comparison drew even more attention given the massive follower gap between the two filmmakers.

The Follower Gap Makes It Stand Out

James Gunn currently has approximately 3.8 million Instagram followers, while Zack Snyder has about 603K — more than a 6x difference.

Despite that disparity, Snyder’s Superman image generated more engagement, fueling arguments online about where fan interest actually sits when it comes to DC.

The image itself featured Henry Cavill in the original Christopher Reeve suit, with Snyder writing: “Henry Cavill. The original Superman suit. This photo. It was undeniable.”

Fans See A Clear Signal

Across X, fans are framing the numbers as proof that interest in Snyder’s Superman — and Henry Cavill specifically — remains stronger than enthusiasm for Gunn’s rebooted DCU direction.

Many are pointing to the comparison as organic engagement rather than marketing-driven hype.

The discussion has quickly expanded beyond likes, turning into a broader debate over which version of DC still resonates most with audiences.

SnyderVerse “Back In Play” Claims Resurface

The timing has only amplified existing chatter.

As previously reported, we’ve been told the SnyderVerse is back in play, particularly if Paramount Skydance ends up acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery.

According to our insider information, Zack Snyder will return to finish his Justice League movies with a majority of the cast back on board.

Regarding James Gunn, we’re told he will be out as head of DC Studios, no matter who buys WBD.
