White House Uses ‘Christmas Vacation’ To Celebrate Christmas

The official White House X account is leaning into pop culture again, this time by using footage from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation featuring Chevy Chase’s Clark Griswold powering up his over-the-top Christmas lights.

But instead of lighting up the neighborhood, the video swaps in a glowing “MAGA” sign.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a 1989 holiday comedy starring Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold, a well-meaning but accident-prone dad determined to give his family the perfect Christmas.

The film is best known for its chaotic humor, over-the-top light display scene, and has become a yearly holiday staple.

White House continues using movie clips

This isn’t the first time the White House has used movie footage in official social media posts.

Earlier this year, the White House X account shared a video using imagery from Batman.

The Department of Homeland Security has taken a similar approach.

Footage used to celebrate Christmas is from various popular movies and shows, including Die Hard starring Bruce Willis. And yes, Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

Trump celebrates Christmas

Additional posts include President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

The president will also be calling troops to celebrate the festivities.
