Zachary Levi Responds To Shazam! Vs Captain Marvel Trolls

Zachary Levi once again responds to the trolls, but this time it is not about the costume, it is about fans pitting the Shazam! movie versus Marvel and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel film.

Apparently, fans are arguing and trolling regarding that Shazam was originally Captain Marvel prior to Carol Danvers, with many fans still considering the superpowered Billy Batson Captain Marvel. Things changed a few years ago and DC started referring to the character as Shazam, which was right around when Marvel started pushing the former Ms. Marvel as Captain Marvel. Fans have also been commenting on how the movies are also coming out around the same time, which has apparently caused contention within amongst fandom.

“Just because Shazam used to be called Captain Marvel way back in the day doesn’t mean somehow Brie or Marvel’s Captain Marvel are pitted against us,” Levi says. “Sure we are both movies and we are going to be out in theaters at similar times, and the irony of that timing is really interesting for sure, but there is no conspiracy, guys. Anyone out there who is holding on to some bone like they need to pick a side and pick a fight is sorely mistaken…”

Watch more from Zachary Levi in the video below. Director David F. Sandberg also shut down the trolls. Captain Marvel gets released March 8; Shazam! has an April 5 release date.
