A new piece of Marvel art showcases both the Fantastic Four and X-Men, characters that have been pretty much absent from Marvel Comics for the past few years.
Long story short, Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter is said to have cancelled X-Men and Fantastic Four comics due to a dispute with Fox Studios who owns the film rights to the characters. Perlmutter is said to be responsible for the death of Wolverine and the cancellation of the Fantastic Four comics, in addition to ordering the characters off from any marketing and promo materials.
Now things appear to have changed as the characters grace the following Hero Initiative poster for the upcoming Cup O’ Joe Stan Lee and Joe Quesada event, which will also feature Kevin Smith.
Of course not having the Fantastic Four or X-Men involved with a special Stan Lee event would be pretty odd, but at least it’s a start.
Marvel Comics is also bringing back some of the characters in their upcoming Generations event/promotion.
