It’s learned that Warner Bros. has turned down a pitch for a Mortal Kombat vs DC animated movie.
The two properties are owned by Warner Bros. and crossed paths back in 2008 in the Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe video game.
The characters have also been featured as DLCs in Injustice with Scorpion, and Injustice 2 with Raiden and Sub-Zero.
So it seems a Mortal Kombat vs DC movie would be a no-brainer, right?
DC and MK writer pitched the flick
Jeremy Adams, who is known for writing both franchises including the DC animated movies Justice League: Warworld and Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons and the Mortal Kombat animated movies Snow Blind, Battle of The Realms, and Scorpion’s Revenge reveals he thought the same.
While speaking with CB.com, Adams was asked about the possibility of Mortal Kombat vs DC and if fans should lower their expectations of the possibility.
“I would lower your expectations,” he said. “I don’t know if they have any plans to do more. I do know that we pitched that a while ago, but it was kind of rebuffed.”
WB doesn’t want to make money?
Adams is then questioned why Mortal Kombat vs DC isn’t happening and if WB doesn’t like making money.
“Well, I think at the end of the day, I don’t know if they’re ever going to do anymore,” he said. “I hope they do, and I hope they call me to be involved. That would be great because I really love it. But I don’t know. I don’t know. I think it would be really cool though. Trust me, I would love to see a DC Mortal Kombat. That would be super, super cool.”
While no new animated movies may be in the works, Warner Bros. recent released the Mortal Kombat 1 video game and has the live-action Mortal Kombat 2 movie coming out starring Karl Urban.
