WB Cracking Down On DCEU Rumors

WB Cracking Down On DCEU Rumors

With WB having made changes to their executive leadership, it’s being said that the new brass will be cracking down on the rumors associated with the DCEU movies.

Anybody who has been following the news for the past few years knows that Warner Bros. loves to put out tons of rumors surrounding their movies.

Well, apparently that is going to stop.

A writer on Twitter claims: “WBPictures is turning up the heat on #DC leaks! A week after I pointed out that something has to be done about their messaging problem- with insiders leaking ideas before they’re fully formed- I’m told the studio is cracking the whip.”

While it’s unknown if the leaks negatively impact the films, there is no denying they create a huge amount of buzz.

Perhaps one of the biggest DC “leaks” ever is when I was told that Bryan Cranston had been cast as Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman, and that the announcement would be made following the series finale of Breaking Bad.

The news took the world by storm as word of Bryan Cranston playing Lex Luthor hit every major newspaper and television network.

However, Breaking Bad ended and no announcement regarding Bryan Cranston was made.

Instead of saying the name of Heisenberg, we learned it was actually Eisenberg — Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

I was told that Bryan Cranston decided against playing another bad guy and ended up turning down the Lex Luthor role, which saw the Batman vs. Superman script rewrote to accommodate the younger Jesse Eisenberg Lex.

Zack Snyder did eventually confirm Cranston for Lex as Snyder even went so far as to question how different a movie Batman vs. Superman would have been with Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor.

“Bryan Cranston would have been great, right? And by the way, he’s an amazing actor. Can you imagine how different the movie would be?” Snyder remarked back in 2016.

That said, it brings up the question whether or not rumors do hurt the movies or have any benefit. The Marvel Studios MCU movies rarely have any rumors as Kevin Feige runs a tight ship and obviously doesn’t like to put out speculatory rumors to create buzz or try to sway the audience.

Warner Bros. recently named William Hamada as the new president of DC-based film production, and the WB shake up continued with Toby Emmerich named as the Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, so apparently changes are starting to take hold.
