It’s learned the Uncharted movie has a director and is getting put on the fast track by Sony.
Deadline reports Shawn Levy, known for Real Steel, Stranger Things, and Night at the Museum, will be directing the big screen live-action adaptation of the Uncharted video game.
Sony recently yanked Uncharted‘s original June 30, 2017 release date, but now with the news the movie is in development expect a new release date to be announced soon.
Joe Carnahan (The Grey, Blacklist) wrote the script and was eyed to direct, but is now directing Bad Boys for Life which reunites and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
The Uncharted video games follow a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, treasure hunter Nate Drake. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was recently released in May from Naughty Dog.
Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles has been rumored for the lead role of Nate Drake.
