The Goonies 2 Rumor False Say Corey Feldman & Martha Plimpton

Following a big rumor that The Goonies 2 is happening, both original cast members Corey Feldman and Martha Plimpton shot down the claims.

Last week saw The Sun report a sequel to The Goonies is in early development. The site claims filming could start next summer and the flick would be released in 2026 or 2027 with many of the original actors returning.

However, according to Corey Feldman, The Goonies 2 isn’t happening.

“2’SDAY, IS #GOONIES2 REAL?!EVERY1 IS ASKING…I CAN OFFICIALLY TELL U 100% NO! I HAV NO INFO THAT A SEQUEL IS IN THE WORX,”
Feldman tweeted who played Mouth.

Likewise, Martha Plimpton said more of the same on Instagram.

“People, there is no Goonies 2 script, there is no one ‘attached,’ Spielberg is not directing, it’s not real,” Plimpton said in a post on Instagram, who played Stef.

The Sun goes on to say Warner Bros. wants to get The Goonies 2 right and is taking their time. They also claim the team that is working on it is excited and that the project is in the early days.

“It is early days but the youth adventure market is on fire, so they want to capitalise on this,” states a source for the site. “The Goonies is 39 years old now and the idea that they can bring the magic of the film to a whole new audience has the team very excited.”

The Goonies was released in 1985 directed by Richard Donner and written by Chris Columus and Steven Spielberg. Also starring in the movie includes Sean Astin as Mikey, Josh Brolin as Brad, Jeff Cohen as Chunk, Kerry Green as Andy, Ke Huy Quan as Data, with John Matuszak as Sloth, Robert Davi as Jake, Joe Pantoliano as Francis, and Anne Ramsey as Mama Fretilli.

The new owners of the Goonies house are active on TikTok, which is located at 368 38th Street, Astoria, OR.
