The Boys Season 4 Episode 6 Review: Eric Kripke’s Woke Wet Dream

Featuring versions of Batman and Spider-Man in an overly drawn out episode with zero story progression.

the boys season 4 episode 6 review

Following a great last episode, unfortunately, The Boys takes another dip with Season 4’s Episode 6, “Dirty Business.”

The episode is really drawn our for the sake of shock value, which comes off as more poor writing.

It’s as if the showrunners of House of the Dragon, The Acolyte, and The Boys all got together and made sure their episodes released this week were about a whole bunch of nothing happening — and dicks.

homelander the boys season 4 episode 6
Less like Trump and more like a certain other president who can’t take care of himself

All we learned in this entire episode is that Homelander has plans for internment camps. That’s it. Yeah, we also learned Butcher only sees Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Kessler in his head, but that was already guessed by some fans. So basically what’s going on is that Kessler plays the devil and Becca is playing the angel to Butcher’s conscience.

Regarding Homelander, he’s a complete moron who can’t do anything for himself. Ironically, it’s Kripke’s version of Donald Trump, but Homelander actually comes off like a certain president who can’t do anything for himself. Then Homelander is sucking off the teat of Firecracker. Eyeroll.

the boys web weaver
The Boys‘ version of Spider-Man

The episode features versions of Batman (and Robin) and Spider-Man. So Mother’s Milk goes to Web Weaver to get his suit so Hughie can wear it to the party. Well, Web Weaver is some kind of junkie or some shit. Well, they show Mother’s Milk shooting Web Weaver up the ass. Web Weaver passes out. So why didn’t they just tranq Web Weaver and grab his suit (or was Web Weaver supposed to be another informant à la A-Train)? Instead, we’re treated to ass shots just for the sake of showing ass shots. You’ll note there is no female T&A in the series at all, in a show called The Boys that has an audience made up of likely 90% males. Kripke got you again!!!

A word about Mother’s Milk, too, he suffers a panic attack. WTF. I thought that was lame and the character has become castrated and lost all his badassery and testosterone from previous seasons. He even gets spooged on in this episode. Let me guess? It’s Kripke’s take on Andrew Tate???

the boys tek knight web weaver
Tek Knight knows Web Weaver has a spider web hole

Speaking of ass, now it’s on to Tek Knight, who has a fetish for holes! Tek Knight is supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, yet he doesn’t realize that Hughie, chained to the gimp machine in the dungeon (is that Chris Evans’ basement???), doesn’t have a hole to shoot spider webs? Even though Tek Knight never met Web Weaver before, he certainly knows Web Weaver has a spider web hole; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been interested. If Tek Knight knew all along it wasn’t the real Web Weaver, it didn’t come off that way. The scene also went on way too long. I will say the safe word being “Zendaya” was rather funny (another obvious dig at the MCU).

hughie the boys
Eric Kripke thinks it’s “hilarious”

Okay, so how about this: Hughie basically gets tortured, sexually assaulted, and nearly raped. Starlight asks if he’s okay as if nothing happened. This is the same Starlight who was sexually assaulted by The Deep. Who writes this?

Or how about in an interview with Variety, where Kripke said the dungeon scene is hilarious. Let me guess: it’s because it’s a white dude that it’s happening to? Welcome to clown world.

This show has fallen from being a fun and entertaining superhero parody and satire to showrunner Eric Kripke’s woke wet dream, where the story is thrown out to satiate Kripke’s agenda against Trump and right-wingers. Let’s be honest, it’s not going to change jack shit.

There are only two episodes left this season, and there hasn’t been much story progression from the previous seasons. Maybe we’re lucky Season 5 is the last.

Rating: 4/10
