Teen Titans Live-Action and Teen Titans Go! 2 In Development Under Gunn and Safran

Teen Titans Live-Action and Teen Titans Go! 2 In Development Under Gunn and Safran

It’s learned that James Gunn and Peter Safran are working on two Teen Titans projects at the DCU with a live-action Teen Titans, and something new for the Teen Titans Go! animated franchise.

De Luca Hints at Live-Action Teen Titans and New Animated Project

Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca, the co-chairs and CEOs of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, recently appeared on the Smartless podcast, which is hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett.

As they were discussing Warner Animation Group, Arnett remarked he made Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (playing Slade) and that it’s a good movie.

Mike De Luca chimed in:

“I think James and Peter are working on a live-action Teen Titans, and a new Teen Titans Go!, I think, actually.”

Abdy and DeLuca also had good things to say about Gunn and his Superman movie.

Teen Titans Go! Still Going Strong

Update: Teen Titans Go! has been renewed for Season 10 on Cartoon Network.

A Teen Titans project was previously rumored to be coming to the DCU, but I believe this is the first time that it has become known something new is in the works for Teen Titans Go! which is a popular animated series that first aired on Cartoon Network starting way back in 2013 consisting of 11-minute episode stories. Episodes were then released in 15-minute fragments and it’s gone through eight seasons, with the ninth season said to be coming in 2025 (back in the day, WB used to send us clips which received millions of views on our YouTube channel).

In 2018, the Teen Titans Go! To the Movies animated movie was released. It actually made over $52 million on a budget of around $10 million. Perhaps Gunn and Safran are making a sequel.

Past Live-Action Titans Series Ran for Four Seasons

The live-action Titans series also aired for four seasons with 49 episodes from 2018 to 2023. The series featured Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), Kory Anders (Anna Diop), Rachel Roth (Teagan Croft), Gar Logan (Ryan Potter), Jason Todd (Curran Walters), Donna Troy (Conor Leslie), Hank Hall (Alan Ritchson), Dawn Granger (Minka Kelly), Rose Wilson (Chelsea Zhang), Conner Kent (Joshua Orpin), and Tim Drake (Jay Lycurgo).

With Gunn and Safran having rebooted the DCU universe, it’s safe to say the live-action Teen Titans project will be all-new.
