Past Catches Up In X-Men: Apocalypse Image

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20535:]]

What looks to be an image referencing a young Magneto has been teased by director Bryan Singer for X-Men: Apocalypse.

Singer posted, “The past catches up,” on his Instagram account which looks to be a blast from Magneto’s past as we see what looks to be police men/soldiers using wooden weapons to hunt for something as the men may know not to use metal against a young Erik Lehnsherr. It’s even possible the young boy or girl in the image may be another mutant aiding the humans in their hunt for Magneto.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Issac.

X-Men New Mutants Movie On The Way

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20532:]]

It’s learned Fox Studios is making a new X-Men standalone spinoff movie with New Mutants, which will have Josh Boone as director.

Deadline reports, similar to its comic book counterpart, New Mutants introduces a new crop of mutant characters born with special powers.

Boone will co-writing the project with Knate Gwaltney, and Simon Kinberg will produce along with X-Men staple Lauren Shuler Donner.

Josh Boone was responsible for last year’s smash hit The Fault in Our Stars, which grossed over $300 million on a $12 million budget.

Boone was also said to be a contender for the Marvel/Sony live-action Spider-Man reboot. Boone is supposed to direct The Vampire Chronicles next for Universal followed by The Stand; the article mentions New Mutants looks to be a few years away.

“We’re so excited to explore this new part of the X-Men universe,” Simon Kinberg said. “And so excited to do it with Josh, who is uniquely suited to tell this story about young characters.”

In addition to New Mutants, Simon Kinberg and Fox are currently filming X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool; a sequel to The Wolverine is in the works with James Mangold and Hugh Jackman, and a Gambit movie is being planned starring Channing Tatum. Fantastic Four hits this Summer as well.

The fan-favorite Marvel Comics character Cable is a part of the New Mutants as is Deadpool and Domino. Comic book creator Rob Liefeld, who introduced the characters on the team in 1989, offered some enthusiastic tweets about the New Mutants movie. It should be noted it’s unclear if the New Mutants movie will be based on Liefeld’s best-selling run.

Wolverine, Gambit & Synopsis Revealed For X-Men: Apocalypse?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20498:]]

The info may not be 100% accurate as it comes from a reported casting call website, but it’s possible a plot synopsis as well as the involvement of Wolverine and Gambit may be confirmed for X-Men: Apocalypse.

There has been no confirmation Hugh Jackman will be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse – the actor only recently stated he is done with Wolverine following the upcoming sequel to The Wolverine.

Regarding Channing Tatum and Gambit, Tatum seemed reluctant to join the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse as he recently said he didn’t want the character to be introduced this way.

Of course, at the same time, everything could be a done deal, and we’ll see both actors in the movie.

The info comes from calltime.com:

It has all lead to this. All of the battles (both outside and within the group), action, relationships and time travel that the uncanny X-Men have endured have lead to this, their biggest story ever – X-Men: Apocalypse. Following the universe changing events of 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past comes this epic mutant adventure and with it a number of casting opportunities for performers of all ages.

X-Men: Apocalypse will follow the super powered mutants battling their most powerful foe yet, the devious and devastatingly dangerous Apocalypse. This legendary villain uses his incredible abilities to alter his physical form, access other mutant superpowers and telekinesis to recruit a cult-like group called the Four Horsemen to be his servants and do his bidding in an all out war against the X-Men.

The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse will feature a who’s who of X-Men characters and some of Hollywood’s most talented performers playing them including Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) as Mystique, Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street) as Gambit, Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave) as Magneto, Golden Globe nominee James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland) as Charles Xavier, Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman (Les Misérables) as Wolverine, 2-time Golden Globe nominee Rose Byrne (Neighbors) as Moira MacTaggert, Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies) as Beast, Olivia Munn (The Newsroom) as Psylocke, 3-time Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Nightcrawler, Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) as Storm, Tye Sheridan (The Stanford Prison Experiment) as Cyclops and Golden Globe nominee Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens) as the villain Apocalypse.

Acclaimed director Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects) will be returning for his fourth X-Men film working this time from a script by Simon Kinberg (Fantastic Four), Dan Harris (Superman Returns) and Michael Dougherty (X-Men 2).

“X-Men: Apocalypse” has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Issac.

Feige Wants X-Men Back; No Black Bolt For SHIELD; Talks Infinity Stones

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20323:]]

Kevin Feige talks Marvel in a recent interview with Crave Online.

Worth a mention is that it’s being speculated that Fox is rebooting their X-Men universe following X-Men: Apocalypse, with some fans even thinking X-Men may return to Marvel.

Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige says he would like to have the X-Men return, but seems to say that won’t be happening anytime soon.

Well, the answer would always be “yes,” I think, to getting them back. But I think they have a solid plan over that at Fox for a while.

Feige also addresses the Agents Of SHIELD TV series and Inhumans, and pretty much what Joss Whedon has said about the TV series and movies being separate, offers no Black Bolt for Agents OF SHIELD.

Exactly. I think there will be threads of it, for sure, that carry over.

Slight spoiler follows for Avengers 2.

Loki’s staff was revealed to house the Mind Gem of the Infinity Stones in Avengers 2. Feige confirms it’s the Mind Gem as well, and names the two gems that are yet to be introduced into the MCU.

It’s definitely the Mind Stone. Space, you’re right. Time and Soul are the two that are not accounted for.

Fantastic Four Cast Talks X-Men (Video)

Are there any connections between the X-Men and the Fantastic Four?

Maybe in Miles Teller’s wildest dreams.

MTV interviewed the cast questioning if there are any references to the X-Men in Fantastic Four as they could be set in the same universe, and Simon Kinberg is involved with both franchises.

Nothing much is offered other than Teller stating about Kinberg: “He is the most important dude at Fox. Fore sure. He creates all those worlds. He does it beautifully. I love what he did with the X-Men.”

Teller and Kate Mara than joke about Reed Richards.

“I think you can tell Mystique falls in love with Reed,” Teller jokes.

Kate Mara than interjects, “My god. In your dreams.”

“I don’t tell Simon which beautiful actress to fall in love with Reed,” Teller says. “He just hit the nail on the head with Kate.  She loves it. She loved being the only girl on set. Oh my, God [laughter].”

Mara is than asked if it’s hard falling in love with Reed, where she makes it known she signed a multi-picture deal, which sounds like three movies.

“It’s impossible. I’ve got a couple more movies to make still. I have time,” Mara says.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20319:]]

“Fantastic Four” has an August 7, 2015 release directed by Josh Trank from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, Simon Kinberg and Josh Trank; produced by Matthew Vaughn, Simon Kinberg, Hutch Parker, Robert Kulzar and Gregory Goodman; starring: Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell.

Sounds Like Michael Fassbender Is Not Returning For X-Men

Hugh Jackman looks to be done with Wolverine; Jennifer Lawrence has stated she is not returning; Nicholas Hoult said similar statements, and now it’s learned Michael Fassbender likely will not be back for more X-Men.

“I’m not sure,” Fassbender responded, when questioned about his future with the X-Men franchise. “I presume they are talking about contractually. All of us sort of signed on for a three film deal. So we’ll just wait and see what happens after this.”

Fassbender did stated he would be interested in more.

“Always interested in moving forward.”

The current speculation is that following X-Men: Apocalypse, Fox will reboot the franchise or pass the torch using younger versions of the actors.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Issac.

Fox Rumored To Reboot Following X-Men: Apocalypse & Wolverine 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20274:]]

This is pretty much what I’ve been stating since news that Hugh Jackman would be done playing Wolverine first hit the net – that Fox is going to reboot the X-Men.

My guess has been Fox is rebooting the X-Men to bring them to the here-and-now as all the movies have taken place in the past, with the most recent, X-Men: Apocalypse, taking place in 1983.

Now Latino Review’s El Mayimbe agrees, as he says he heard following The Wolverine 2 and X-Men: Apocalypse, that the Bryan Singer X-Men era will be at an end.

It’s possible the events from X-Men: Apocalypse might cause the characters to shift timelines, which would enable them to keep the young actors onboard: Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Alexandra Shipp. If we hear the actors state they have signed on for multiple movies, we probably have confirmation.

In addition to Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed she won’t be returning to the X-Men franchise, and Nicholas Hoult also said his contract is at an end.

It looks as if Singer is giving his X-Men characters one last send-off with Apocalypse, which has  been said to feature Ian McKellen. Regarding Patrick Stewart, it’s been said the actor will be featured with Hugh Jackman in The Wolverine 2, so that looks like our final good-bye to the 2000 Professor X that started it all.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Issac.

Now the images have officially been released, with new details from director Bryan Singer and producer/writer Simon Kinberg.

“It’s a big monster of a movie,” Singer offered to Empire. “The stakes are so high and global and the villain

of the movie as our main cast,”
Kinberg added regarding the new additions of Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp. “Scott is not yet the squeaky-clean leader. Storm is
a troubled character who is going down the wrong path in life. And Jean is complex, interesting and not fully mature. It’s fun to see someone struggling with their powers when you know one day they’ll become the most powerful person in the world.”

Channing Tatum’s Gambit Might Not Be In X-Men: Apocalypse

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20175:]]

Channing Tatum recently attended CinemaCon in Las Vegas to promote Magic Mike XXL where he was also asked about appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse.

MTV caught up with Tatum where they assumed Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse was a done deal. However, Tatum cut them short and stated what he was trying to say was that he wasn’t sure if Gambit would be appearing.

“I was about to say I don’t think I want to introduce Gambit until you can explain who Gambit really is,” Tatum offered.

From Tatum’s comments, it doesn’t seem as if Gambit not appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse is definitely set (he could always be playing coy), and at this stage in the game, if Gambit’s role is still up in the air, more than likely it’s not that large of a role as X-Men: Apocalypse is due to start filming any day now.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” has a May 27, 2016 release; the “Gambit” movie is due out October 7, 2016.

It’s Iceman.

Pages from the issue have leaked online ahead of tomorrow’s release (via 4chan).

Note: It’s Bendys’ last issue on the title.

I just wish Bendiss would also leave the Cosmic titles.

Update: Bendis offered the following:

“There are thousands if not millions of stories of people who, for many different reasons, felt the need to hide their sexuality. The X-Men, with the conceit of time travel, give us a fascinating platform in which to examine such personal journeys. This is just the first little chapter of a much larger story that will be told.”

Viggo Mortensen Talks Turning Down Wolverine & Man Of Steel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20019:]]

Viggo Mortensen has always been in high-demand even previous to landing Aragorn in Lord of the Rings as the actor was offered the part of Wolverine for the 2000 X-Men movie.

Mortensen discusses turning down the Wolverine role with the Daily Beast.

“I was offered Wolverine for the first movie—I guess it would have been for the franchise then,” Mortensen recalls. “That was before I got Lord of the Rings. I remember going to the meeting with the director, Bryan Singer, with my son who was a total comic book expert. He was about 10 at the time. Henry came, and Bryan showed us all these models and storyboards, and Henry was instructing the director, saying, ‘Oh, you’re going to change this thing right here.’

“I believe it coincided with another project, and I couldn’t do it,” Mortesen offered.

Mortensen also says he was offered two parts in the Zack Snyder Man of Steel movie (I’m guessing General Zod and Jonathan Kent).

“Every once in a while, I get an offer like that. I was offered two different parts in the last Superman movie they made, but I wasn’t available to do that either,” says Mortensen.

Another movie that Viggo Mortensen turned down is Snow White and the Huntsman, with the role going to Chris Hemsworth.

“When they offered it to me, it was a different story and seemed more justified to be called Snow White and the Huntsman. The movie they ended up making should have been called Snow White and the Wicked Witch. The original script was a lot funnier and there was a longer apprenticeship. It was almost like The African Queen a little bit.”

Update: Gunn held another QnA where he revealed Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will start filming February 2016 at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

James Gunn recently gave the new Periscope App a test drive where he answered questions regarding Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Marvel and other topics.

Gunn has been busy developing the sequel, in which he previously let it be known Marvel thought his latest approach was “risky.”

Screen Rant caught the QnA and jotted down the following:

Gunn has submitted his treatment for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 to Marvel brass.

He has a follow-up meeting this Friday about the treatment and will begin the actual screenplay in about a week, in which he later added he is about 70 pages into it.

Gunn confirmed that Ronan is dead and that “not everything is going to happen in the movies as same as the comics.”

Gunn said fans will get to know the Guardians in the sequel in a “deeper way.”

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be in 3D.

Gunn offered they don’t do motion-capture work for Rocket and Groot, they just reference images at times.

They may have figured a way for Karen Gillan not to shave her head for Nebula.

Regarding the writing process of both movies, Gunn said he plots out the whole story, and then writes it after.

Other tidbits mentioned include:

Gunn has seen and liked Avengers 2; “lept for joy” about Spider-Man joining Marvel; current favorite comics are Silver Surfer, Wolverines and Secret Avengers; “really dug” the Fantastic Four trailer; would never direct an X-Men movie, and his favorite villain is Heath Ledger’s Joker.

“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” has a May 5, 2017 release date.
