Chance For Young Justice To Return Says Jay Oliva; Series Now On Netflix

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24100:]]

About six months or so ago saw the hashtag “RenewYoungJustice” trend worldwide on Twitter.

Now hope is again renewed as Batman: Bad Blood and DC animated movie director Jay Oliva says there is a chance for Young Justice to return.

“Nothing’s ever totally dead. Futurama and Family Guy came back, but the crew, we all moved on,” Oliva told Inverse. “I’m doing this stuff, Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman are doing their own things. If the fans want it and there’s enough uproar, then eventually. Who knows? We all might come back and do it, but you never know.”

Cartoon Network cancelled the series in the Spring of 2013 with the exact reason unknown; however, the lack of merchandise may have been the cause (or the lack of selling merchandise).

The good news is that the first two seasons of Young Justice are currently on Netflix. Maybe if there is enough “fan uproar,” Netflix may think about picking up the series (and #RenewYoungJustice is currently back on Twitter.) Young Justice writer and creator Greg Weisman recently posted that he is asking fans to “make the push by racking up the views.”

Cartoon Network did just announce a new Justice League Action animated series, so there is at least that to look forward to.

New Voltron & Trollhunters Series Headed To Netflix

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23603:]]

Netflix and Dreamworks Animation have announced they are expanding upon their global relationship, which will see a new Voltron series reimagined and a Guillermo Del Toro Trollhunters series debut on Netflix later this year.

Full details can be found in the announcement below.

Info:

Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Expand Global Relationship Jan 05, 2016

Voltron and a New Fantasy World from Guillermo Del Toro Among Series Debuting in 2016

Netflix, Inc. and DreamWorks Animation today announced the expansion of their current multi-year deal, making Netflix the global home, outside of China, to a number of new original series for the whole family from the studio. The deal also covers streaming rights to the DreamWorks Animation feature film library.

In addition, the deal extends the rights of current original series for kids from the studio available on the service throughout operating Netflix markets as well as expanding to include second window rights for the series everywhere around the world, outside of China. Series include The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Dinotrux, Dragons: Race to the Edge, among others.

Starting in 2016, Netflix will launch several new series from DWA, including a reimagining of Voltron, and the new series, Trollhunters, from master storyteller Guillermo del Toro, who will unleash a new, fantastical world wrapped around two best friends who make a startling discovery beneath their hometown.

Over the term of the new agreement, a number of new original series will be developed and produced by DreamWorks Animation for Netflix, based not only on recent and upcoming feature films from the studio, but also on other classic IP.

“DreamWorks Animation is synonymous with great storytelling that families around the world enjoy,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Series for Netflix. “It’s with great pleasure that we expand on an already successful relationship with DreamWorks Animation to bring more premium kids and family television to Netflix members globally.”

“This agreement adds to the incredible foundation we’ve built together with Netflix over a number of years across both film and television,” said Ann Daly, President of DreamWorks Animation. “We are proud to work closely with Netflix to continue delivering high-quality programming to audiences around the world.”

Daredevil Season 2 Images Feature Jon Bernthal as Punisher, Elodie Yung as Elecktra & More

Daredevil NYCC Sizzle

Check out first look images at Season 2 of Daredevil which includes Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, and Elodie Yung as Elektra.

Regarding Punisher, Bernthal told EW.com:

”People have been coming up to me on the streets of New York saying, ‘Do not mess this up. This character has resonated with law enforcement and military. He’s brought the war home with him in the worst possible way. And the best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn’t care.”

Regarding Elektra, showrunner Doug Petrie said:

“Matt’s a deeply moral complicated guy and she’s just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have. She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.”

Daredevil Season 2 is said to premier on Netflix in March 2016 and stars Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear.

Mike Colter Offers Details About The Luke Cage Series (Video)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23274:]]

Check out video below of Mike Colter on the Red Carpet of the premeire for Jessica Jones talking about Luke Cage.

The Power Man offers that his Luke Cage series will be different than both Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

“It’s nice to walk into something having a little head start and get a chance to warm up,” Colter said. “You know, stretch it out a bit. Because Jessica Jones is so unique as a series, I’m so happy to be a part of it because Luke Cage is completely different – as Daredevil was completely different – and it’s nice to be a part of something that is unique.”

Colter also offers the following about the start of the Luke Cage series:

Luke Cage is going to basically find Luke right after Jessica Jones, uptown. He’s licking his wounds, I would say. You are going to know exactly what I mean when I say that, and he’s trying to figure out what’s his next step. It’s hard because he doesn’t know where to go from here. He’s lost a lot, and he’s basically in a state of turmoil.”

Check out more from Colter in the video below.

Jessica Jones can be watched on Netflix, with Luke Cage currently filming and due out in 2016.

Frank Miller Bashes Uses Of Elektra In Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23184:]]

Season 2 of Daredevil will feature Elodie Yung as Elektra (read the teaser description), but the creator behind the character, the legendary Frank Miller, doesn’t seemed to thrilled.

Miller attended the recent Comic-Con Experience in Brazil where he was asked whether or not he has seen the Daredevil Netflix series, in which he responded with, “No.”

Miller also commented on the use of Elektra in Season 2 by stating it’s not the real deal.

“…they can call it whatever you want, but it will not be the real Elektra,” Miller said, and then when asked asked about his attachment to Elektra, added: “Yes, I’m her father.”

Miller both created and killed off Elektra in the pages of Daredevil in which he claims Marvel promised Elektra would never be printed again.

For what it’s worth, Miller also previously stated at the recent NYCC that he isn’t involved with Batman Vs. Superman and that it’s not an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns.

Buck previously served as Executive Producer and showrunner of “Dexter” for the series’ final four years. He has also written for “Six Feet Under” and “Rome,” among other series.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23015:]]

Recently, there have been all kinds of rumor surrounding the Marvel Netflix Iron Fist series ranging from Marvel Studios stopping the use of the character, to the Punisher replacing Iron Fist in Netflix Defenders series, to an Iron Fist Netflix movie.

Now IGN catches up with Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada and asks about Iron Fist.

“Iron Fist is being worked on,” Quesada confirms. “That’s all I can say.”

Quesada is then asked about the rumor surrounding Iron Fist becoming a Netflix movie.

“Where did you read these rumors? Oh, but they were on the internet? So they must be true,” Quesada said with a smile.

While Quesada didn’t specifically shoot down the Iron Fist Netflix movie rumor, we do see since it is being worked on that it’s safe to assume Marvel Studios hasn’t cancelled the use of the character.
