Hulk Almost Made It Into Captain America: Civil War Post-Credits Scene

It’s learned Mark Ruffalo and the Hulk almost made it into Captain America: Civil War.

Throughtout filming of Captain America: Civil War there were a lot of rumors and speculation that the Hulk might make an appearance.

Mark Ruffalo was said to be spotted in Germany with the cast, Robert Downey Jr. teased Ruffalo’s involvement, and Anthony Mackie even made it sound as if the Hulk was in Captain America: Civil War.

Now Captain America: Civil War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely set the record straight regarding the Hulk.

It’s learned Mark Ruffalo wasn’t in Germany, but the unit publicist on Captain America: Civil War was mistaken to be Ruffalo as the two look alike.

The writers do note they talked about using the Hulk and even had an idea for a Captain America: Civil War post-credit scene with the Hulk, but on second thought, decided not to do it just to add in another character.

Via HP:

“We can clean that up real quickly,” said Markus. “Mark Ruffalo shot no scenes. We talked about having Bruce Banner at the very end of the film, and it just, again, seemed like we’re sticking people in just to stick them in. He has clearly gone somewhere at the end of ‘Ultron,’ and that’s a story. Don’t blow it off and put it in a little tiny chunk just to put in a little extra filigree on our movie. That’s a story.”

McFeely added, “There was a draft with a stinger of him in it. But that was long ago, and reports of him actually filming stuff — the unit publicist on the movies [John M. Pisani] looks a lot like Ruffalo, so when people say, ‘Hey, he’s in Berlin dancing with Anthony Mackie,’ it’s John Pisani. It’s not Ruffalo.”

Another character that almost made it into Captain America: Civil War was Wasp.

Mark Ruffalo and the Hulk can next be seen along Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston in Thor: Ragnarok.

Peyton Reed Updates Ant-Man and the Wasp & Evangeline Lilly

Marvel recently released the new Paul Rudd Ant-Man clip for Captain America: Civil War, (watch below) and now while attending the Red Carpet World Premiere, director Peyton Reed offers an update on the Ant-Man and the Wasp movie, particularly in regards to Evangeline Lilly.

“Evangeline is an amazing actress. The first movie was really about her coming into her own as a hero, even though we didn’t see her suit up yet. So we’re so excited about now being able to show her fully formed and what she is as a superhero. Her power set, how she fights, and what are the injustices that matter to her that she wants to right. That’s part of the really fun thing of the next movie.”

“It just didn’t make sense for Wasp [to be in Civil War] because there’s so many characters in this movie, and you really want to see her become a hero and really spend time with her. She’s a complicated character and a rich character. We’re really, really having fun writing that.”

“The challenge in Ant-Man and the Wasp is just topping everything that comes before. But that’s a challenge I think with every Marvel movie, with every hero movie. You don’t want the audience to get bored and feel like, oh man, I saw that in the last movie. You always got to give them something different.”

“We’re just getting started. We’re working on it for a little while. Coming up with some ideas … It’s creatively fulfilling, and challenging, and daunting, and exciting, more than anything.”

Good News: Spider-Man Movie Is Marvel’s Says Kevin Feige

Following the less than well received Amazing Spider-Man movies, Sony wised up and turned to Marvel for help, which saw Tom Holland cast as the new Web Slinger, who will first appear in Captain America: Civil War followed by the standalone Spider-Man 2017 film.

Collider recently caught up with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige who offers the Spider-Man movie is essentially Marvel’s:

“We’re working very much [together]. It is a— I don’t know exactly what the credits will be, but it is a Sony Pictures production of a Marvel Studios film. The agreement was that it is very much a Sony Pictures movie. Amy Pascal is co-producing it with us and [Sony Chairman] Tom Rothman is leading the charge for Sony and that we are the creative producers. We are the ones hiring the actor, introducing him in this film, and then working right now on the script and soon to be shooting the actual Spidey film.”

Feige also talks about how they are not going to feature a Spider-Man origin story, but instead, have Spider-Man as always being a part of the MCU, just that he first shows up in Captain America: Civil War:

We spend a lot of time as we work on these movies saying ‘Don’t take it for granted that the audience saw the other the other movies or that the audience is as versed in the comic books as we are.’ We take great pains to give you everything you need to know within the context of whatever movie you’re actually watching. However, we did say, if it’s safe to assume anything, it’s safe to assume that everybody knows how Spider-Man became Spider-Man and what that backstory was. We’ve seen it a number of times now, it’s its own well-known mythology. So we said, let’s reveal that there’s been a Spider-Man in the MCU and we meet him, as you see, in [Civil War].”

Feige continues with mention they aren’t really going to focus on Spider-Man’s past, but want to look ahead to the future:

“There are events that made Peter who he was, and we’ll certainly allude to those events, but we’re much more focused on his future and how he continues to grow and have a steep learning curve after, certainly, the adventure he had in Civil War on how to be his own hero.”

Captain America: Civil War has a May 6, 2016 release; the new Spider-Man movie comes out July 7, 2017 directed by Jon Watts.

TEAM CAPTAIN AMERICA

Steve Rogers/ Captain America — Steve Rogers is leading the new Avengers team on missions to safeguard humanity, but when collateral damage sparks governmental oversight, Steve, in a surprising about-face, rejects the regulation — in opposition to Tony Stark’s compliance. As the Avengers take sides, Steve is running another agenda that threatens all of them by stepping out of the bounds of the law to save and defend his best friend Bucky Barnes — the infamous Winter Soldier.
COSTUME UPDATE: There were subtle changes in Captain America’s costume — color was one and subtle changes to all the details and cut. It became a combination of the stealth suit from Winter Soldier and the Avengers: Age of Ultron suit.

Sam Wilson/Falcon — Sam Wilson’s Falcon is now a full-fledged Avenger and he is fiercely loyal to Captain America and the team. Opposing the government and Tony Stark at the same time poses no problem for the winged Avenger, who sets out to recruit Ant-Man as an added bonus for Team Cap.
COSTUME UPDATE: Falcon’s suit is more high-tech and embellished with red on the wings and modified jet pack.

Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier — Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier reappears, this time with more memories of the past solidifying and hopefully counterpunching his dangerous and unstoppable actions. He trusts Steve and though he has no skin in the game of Avenger vs. Avenger, he allies with Captain America against Iron Man for his own redemption.
COSTUME UPDATE: The storyline dictates Bucky is in civilian clothes for the majority of the film but in the finale he dons a costume reminiscent of The Winter Soldier but more tactical.

Scott Lang/Ant-Man — After a recent run-in with Falcon made Scott Lang’s Ant-Man a household name to the Avengers, Sam Wilson recruits the unwitting Ant-Man for Cap’s team. His ability to diminish in size can wreak havoc against the most powerful opponent, even if he is someone star-struck in Captain America’s presence.
COSTUME UPDATE: The new suit is streamlined and more high-tech. The helmet no longer has cables that snap into the back of it and antennas shoot up from the bottom and the regulator also has no dial on it.

Clint Barton/Hawkeye – Drawn out of retirement to stand beside Captain America, Hawkeye brings his superior archery skills along with some new weapons to the fight. A military man through and through, Hawkeye does not have any use for politics. He is there for Cap at any cost — against anyone, even his closest friends.
COSTUME UPDATE: A new look with a full-sleeved jacket instead of a vest, making it less comic-book in cut and more tactical and military based — much sleeker and simpler. Purple in color instead of burgundy like previous films.

Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch — With her powers of mental manipulation and telekinesis, Wanda brings a new dimension to the newly formed Avengers team. Just as Wanda begins to feel like she is no longer an outsider, she is unwillingly at the center of the controversy over government regulation of the Avengers. Following Hawkeye, the one Avenger that she knows will always have her back, Wanda joins Cap’s team.

TEAM IRON MAN

Tony Stark/Iron Man — Tony Stark is a different man — he’s made an honest assessment of the recent events with Ultron and, in a shocking conservative turnaround, is in agreement with world governments that the Avengers should be regulated. This move pits Iron Man against Captain America on a political level but their personal conflict runs deeper — and down a more dangerous path than either could have ever anticipated or imagined.

Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow — Despite her loyalty and friendship with Steve Rogers since the early days of the now-defunct S.H.I.E.L.D., Natasha disagrees with his position and in a surprise move joins Tony Stark’s team, in support of governmental oversight. Always strategic in her thinking and heroic in her actions, Black Widow is an asset that Tony needs — but one that he cannot control.
COSTUME UPDATE: Black Widow is much sleeker in this film. Her suit is not leather, but a more tactical stretch cordura rather than the usual printed stretch fabrics used, although there is some of that in strategic places for mobility. Has a more cat-suit feel to it, closer to to the comics.

Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes/War Machine — Rhodey’s friendship with Tony Stark goes way back and his loyalty to him goes hand-in-hand with his loyalty to his country as the Avenger known as War Machine — the Tony Stark-designed ultimate protector. As a military man, Rhodey agrees with Stark in favor of government regulation and brings War Machine to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Iron Man in the fight.

T’Challa/Black Panther — T’Challa’s father, T’Chaka, the King of Wakanda, joins the ranks of those who support government regulation after innocent citizens are collateral damage from an Avengers’ mission. But when events turn ugly, T’Challa must reveal himself as Black Panther and follow his own path. With his own agenda driving him, Black Panther aligns with Iron Man to achieve his own deeply personal goal.

Vision — Since his conception at the hands of Tony Stark in the battle against Ultron, Vision has been accepted as a member of the Avengers team but he is still trying to find his footing in the human world and understand the extent of his seemingly limitless power. Vision sides with Tony in the conflict as he believes, logically, it is the safest way to protect the world.
COSTUME UPDATE: Vision has the ability to create a projected disguise he can change at will that makes him appear as he wishes, showing an affinity for Howard Stark’s attache, Edwin Jarvis.

Peter Parker/Spider-Man — Recruited personally by Tony Stark, teenager Peter Parker aka Spider-Man brings his youthful energy and exceptional — though not totally mastered — skills to Iron Man’s team.

Wasp Almost Made It Into Captain America: Civil War

Wasp almost made into Captain America: Civil War.

The writers on Civil War, Christopher Markus and Marcus McFeely, filled in the Collider that if Wasp had made it into the Ant-Man movie, Wasp would have been in Captain America 3.

CHRISTOPHER MARKUS: You know, almost everybody made it in. There was a period where we talked about bringing Wasp in. There was actually a draft Wasp was in because she was so almost on the edge of being in Ant-Man, but then you’re taking something awesome out of the Ant-Man team’s quiver if it’s like, “Well, we’re doing her!” Plus she had a similar skill set, so it’s like “Well, maybe we just isolate it to Scott.

MARCUS MCFEELY: When you see the movie, you see that Scott is his own comic relief so it would change that a little bit. They would be this pair. Everybody else we would talk about them and then they’d go away, but we got most everybody back.

Nine months ago also saw Kevin Feige address why they didn’t use Wasp in Captain America: Civil War.

She was included in early versions of [Captain America: Civil War] but there are so many characters in Civil War that we didn’t want to do her a disservice, like she flies in, ‘I’ve got the costume now’, and she flies out.

With Ant-Man, and I’m not saying thats what Ant-Man does in the movie, but we already know him, we’ve already seen him. We haven’t seen her as Wasp and we don’t want to rob the opportunity of seeing her in the outfit for at least almost the first time, and seeing her dynamic with Scott in a way it could play out, so we’re saving it. But its going to be in Phase three for sure.”

While Wasp didn’t make it into Captain America: Civil War, Evangeline Lilly will suit up with Paul Rudd in the sequel to Ant-Man, aptly titled Ant-Man & Wasp, which hits July 6, 2018. It’s also possible we could see Wasp in Avengers: Infinity War prior to that on May 4, 2018.

Chadwick Boseman Says Black Panther Is A Detective & More For Captain America: Civil War

Chadwick Boseman offers up details about Black Pather in Captain America: Civil War as the actor spoke with Total Film magazine.

Describing Black Panther:

He has the dual activity of being a monarch of a country, and he’s literally a detective. I think he’s a misunderstood character because he makes decisions sometimes without consulting other people [laughs], without working as a team. It’s very hard to predict why he does what he does.

How much do we see Black Panther in Civil War:

I don’t feel like you’ll have a deep sense of the character because it’s a brief introduction. It leaves a lot to be explored. You want the character to have an arc, but I think there’s a lot you don’t know about him at the end of the movie.

How Black Panther is introduced in Civil War:

He is brought into the story because there are Wakandans who are the victims of the tragedy that happens because of the superheroes. So he’s brought in really as a political [figure], and he’s useful. It’s not really as a superhero. He fits that whole theme of the movie.

The Wakandans know who he is. It’s like his, purpose is to protect his country. It’s not necessarily to protect everyone [laughs]. He’s not that type of superhero. He has a singular purpose in that respect when he’s coming into this movie.

Chadwick Boseman will also be starring in the upcoming Black Panther standalone movie that has a February 16, 2018 release.
