Captain America: Civil War Nearing A Billion; Crushes Batman Vs. Superman For Second Weekend

Captain America: Civil has the one thing Batman Vs. Superman doesn’t — and that’s staying power.

Though both movies had similar opening weekend numbers, now with its second weekend, Captain America: Civil War has begun to show why Marvel is on top.

Civil War netted $72,563,000 for its second weekend, a drop of around 59.5% from last weekend, while Batman Vs. Superman saw a drop of over 69% for its second weekend with $51,335,254.

Captain America: Civil War has also already passed Batman Vs. Superman in worldwide box office gross and is closing on the magic billion dollar number.

Captain America: Civil War has a $295,892,078 gross in the U.S. with a whopping $645,000,000 internationally for a current worldwide total of $940,892,078.

Batman Vs. Superman has finished with $328,214,243 in the U.S. and $540,600,000 for foreign receipts for a total a total of $868,814,243 worldwide.

The numbers for Captain America: Civil War have also helped the Marvel Cinematic Universe pass $10 billion worldwide for all their movies.

Disney also saw its Jungle Book take the #2 spot this weekend.
