Daniel Bruhl Says Lots Of Secrets In Captain America: Civil War

We have yet to get a look at the bad guy in Captain America: Civil War (or at least one of them), but in the latest issue of Total Film magazine, Daniel Bruhl offers the movie holds a lot of secrets. One of those secrets happens to be the role Daniel Bruhl is playing, which is yet to be confirmed, but the sure money is on Daniel Bruhl playing Baron Zemo.

“Not that much,” Bruhl respond when asked what he can say about Captain America: Civil War. “I was really told not to because there are so many secrets in the film. And also my character’s quite mysterious, so I’m really scared to say too much. The things I’ve mentioned in interviews before were already too much – and I thought it was nothing!”

The article notes Bruhl was in part cast as the mystery villain due to his German accent.

“Yes, but what I like is it’s not a stereotype,” Bruhl offered about playing the Civil War bad guy. “It’s not a guy who’s mean and sinister, but he’s actually very clever – a very smart guy who does everything out of a very understandable reason and motivation.”

Bruhl does offer up a tidbit or two about the villain in the movie, but again nothing specific.

“Some of the things that happen in the film, and why they happen, are because of him. He is orchestrating things that happen throughout the film. I think that’s something I can say, goddam it!”

Spider-Man Will Be More Fun To Discover In Captain America: Civil War

We’ve only seen a glimpse of Spider-Man in the Captain America: Civil War trailer (watch below). Honestly, hopefully that is all Marvel reveals as even director Joe Russo admits the best is yet to come.

“He’s certainly a character that’s more fun for people to discover when they go see the movie,” Joe Russo told Total Film Magazine. “He was my favorite character growing up. I have an incredible amount of passion for Spider-Man.”

Russo also comments on the Spider-Man costume, but it’s a mystery whether or not this is the version Tony Stark may have made and given to Peter, and offers the following on casting 19-year-old Tom Holland.

“It was very important for us to execute an interpretation of the character that was loyal to how I felt about him as an 11-year-old,” Russo offered. “So we were very dedicated to casting an actor very close in age to the age of the character. And also, an actor with that youthful spirit and insecurity that comes with being that age and having that kind of power.”

Following Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland will be featured in the standalone Spider-Man movie in 2017. Kevin Feige recently confirmed other Marvel characters will cross over.

Avengers Confirmed For Tom Holland Spider-Man Movie

With Spider-Man set to debut in Captain America: Civil War, it’s also learned Marvel Studios characters will cross over into the standalone Spidey movie in 2017.

Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige confirmed the news to EW.com.

“He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,” Feige said.

It’s unknown which Marvel characters will be appearing in the standalone Spider-Man movie, but Joe Russo offered a bit of a tease, with the article noting it’s probably a joke.

“Let’s just say … Great Lakes Avengers,” said Joe Russo.

With Marvel characters appearing in the Spider-Man movie, it’s probably a good bet that Spider-Man will be appearing in the Avengers: Infinity War movies, which are directed by the Russo Brothers as well.

Tom Holland is playing Spider-Man and debuts in Captain America: Civil War next month followed by the Spider-Man reboot that has a July 7, 2017 release date directed by Jon Watts.

False Alarm: No Captain America: Civil War & Luke Cage Crossover

Yesterday saw the news hit that Alfre Woodward will be appearing in both Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War and the Netflix Luke Cage series leading to speculation of a possible crossover.

Now, however, it’s learned that doesn’t look to be the case.

Non-spoiler info: Alfre Woodward has a small role in Captain America: Civil War unrelated to her Luke Cage character.

Captain America: Civil War spoiler info below the pic.

Spoilers (via Screen Crush):

Woodard has a small, but pivotal role in the beginning of the film. She’ll be playing the mother of an American citizen who was killed during the Battle of Sokovia in Age of Ultron. Her character has a confrontation with Tony Stark where she lays both guilt and blame at him for the death of her son. It’s this encounter that convinces Tony to back the Sokovia Accords that would regulate The Avengers and other “enhanced individuals.”

It’s noted Alfre Woodward was cast in Civil War (by Marvel Studios), which wrapped last August, prior to her getting cast in Luke Cage (by Marvel TV) in September.

It’s further suggested: “It’s beginning to look like we’ll never see Daredevil and Luke Cage play alongside Captain America and Iron Man.”

New Captain America: Civil War Cast Member Hints At Luke Cage Netflix Crossover

Fans have been wanting the Marvel Cinematic Universe to crossover with Marvel TV (or at the very least reference), which has yet to happen.

Now it’s possible that Captain America: Civil War may be the first as Disney revealed two additional Civil War cast members with Jim Rash and Alfre Woodward.

Regarding the latter, Alfre Woodward has been named to be playing Mariah Dillard on the upcoming Marvel Netflix Luke Cage series that premiers this September; her Civil War role is unknown.

Woodward’s Luke Cage character is described as: “a local Harlem politician–and cousin to recently announced Cornell ‘Cottonmouth’ Stokes (Mahershala Ali)–who is looking to bring a new era of change to the streets she grew up on. Her personal life and professional career are thrown into turmoil by both Harlem’s newest hero Luke Cage as well as her cousin Cottonmouth’s nefarious acts.”

What might be interesting is that if Woodward is actually playing a totally different character in Captain America: Civil War, that this would be evidence that the MCU take place in a separate universe than Marvel TV.

It’s unknown who Jim Rash is playing, though he was a part of the Russo brothers Community series.

Luke Cage debuts September 30th on Netflix.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

More Possible Tom Holland Spider-Man Movie Titles Surface

Yesterday saw the news hit that a possible title for the new Tom Holland Spider-Man reboot might be “Spider-Man Homecoming” due to the fact Sony registered the web site domain.

Now it’s learned (via AICN) Sony has registered more domains which may potentially be titles for the Spider-Man movie: SpiderManComingOfAgeMovie.com, SpiderManGreatnessAwaitsMovie.com and SpiderManSuspendedMovie.com.

Obviously these could be associated with the reboot or something all together different (animated movies, Apps, etc).

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony and Marvel went a more classic route for the Spider-Man reboot such as “Web of Spider-Man” or “Spectacular Spider-Man.”

“Spider-Man: New Avenger” also has a nice ring.

The issue, Amazing Spider-Man #252, features Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Thor, Wasp and Captain Marvel, as well as the black Spider-Man costume. It’s the issue that followed Marvel’s first Secret Wars event.

The Spider-Man reboot has a July 7, 2017 release directed by Jon Watts. Tom Holland will first appear in Captain America: Civil War next month.

Update: Sony registered more Spider-Man domain names.

Watch: Chris Evans’ Captain America: Civil War Singapore Promo & Teams Descriptions

We previously told you how the cast of Captain America: Civil War is splitting into their respective teams – Team Cap and Team Iron Man – for the worldwide promotion of the movie.

Team Cap – consisting of director Joe Russo, Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie – is headed to Singapore on Aprril 21st at Marina Bay Sands, which will include a special screening of Captain America: Civil War.

Check out Chris Evans accepting Team Iron Man’s challenge:

We also get a description of each team:

Team Cap: Captain America, Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Falcon and Ant-Man

Following the events of the Avengers’ earth-shaking battle with Ultron, the Super-Soldier Steve Rogers found himself leading a new team of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and operating out of the state- of-the-art Avengers Compound. Cap’s field team continues to respond to global threats beyond the scope of conventional authorities — until a divisive international law forces each Avenger to register and take orders from the United Nations. Rallying behind Captain America and his vibranium shield, a faction of heroes refuses, even though it means they will be brought into direct conflict with their former allies and teammates.

Team Iron Man: Iron Man, Black Widow, War Machine, Vision and Black Panther

Having foot the bill for the Avengers’ new facilities, billionaire tech guru Tony Stark was happy to set aside his Iron Man armour for a while. In the wake of Ultron’s attack – a catastrophe for which he holds himself accountable – Tony wants to focus on fostering the development of technologies that will benefit mankind. An opportunity for Tony to take responsibility arises when the United Nations drafts a set of laws to introduce accountability into the Avengers’ operations. Stark and a group of like-minded heroes sign up immediately, knowing that their first mission will be to bring Captain America and other former teammates who have refused to sign up to justice.
