Swamp Thing Canceled; DC Universe App In Question

Following the premiere of the first episode, it is reported Swamp Thing is canceled and won’t get a second season, and also that the DC Universe app is being reevaluated.

Deadline reports on the news where it is said WB execs weren’t high on Swamp Thing which saw its number of episodes cut from 10 to 13 back in April.

Note: All 10 episodes of Swamp Thing will still air on the DC Universe app, and members can watch a new episode every Friday through the finale on 8/2.

Regarding the DC Universe app getting reevaluated, the site offers:

Like every other initiative, DC Universe is being reevaluated following the completion of AT&T acquisition of Time Warner as WarnerMedia has put an emphasis on the launch of a new streaming platform. There have been questions how DC Universe fits into those plans.

Back in April when I reported on Swamp Thing‘s episodes getting cut, sources close to the service said the DC Universe streaming service is thriving and the creative decisions surrounding Swamp Thing are unrelated to the health of the platform.
