We know Zack Snyder’s new Superman movie, Man of Steel, is set to take on the U.S. Government led by Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy (left).

We’ve already seen set images revealing soldiers, helicopters, tanks, and in addition, Snyder filmed parts of the movie at and near Edwards Air Force Base.

Now, the Pentagon has given Warner Bros. the green light to debut the first physical footage of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jet (right).

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3576:]]While details on how the F-35 will be used in the Man of Steel are not exactly known, the Pentagon’s Hollywood liaison, Phil Strub, offered that he doesn’t think it will be a major part of the movie.

“I don’t think there are any plot points for the F-35,” Strub told Wired. “I think it’s just background candy.”

However, as Wired notes, two actors are listed as portraying F-35 fighter pilots on the Man of Steel iMDB page.

Maybe they will be a part of defending the Earth from Zod?

Or as we have seen, taking down Superman, as Superman was shown in handcuffs in the Man of Steel Comic-Con footage.

Stay tuned to Cosmic Book News as more on the Man Of Steel develops.

Man Of Steel flies into theaters June 14th, 2013 directed by Zack Snyder starring, Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, Diane Lane as Martha “Ma” Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonat han “Pa” Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as Zod, and Russel Crowe as Jor-El.
