Superman: Legacy: James Gunn Recasting Supergirl: Sasha Calle Out

It’s claimed that Supergirl will be appearing in Superman: Legacy, but played by a new actress, which means James Gunn is recasting and that Sasha Calle is out.

The info comes via scooper Daniel RPK who says Supergirl will first appear in Superman: Legacy prior to her own movie and that the role is getting recast for additional projects in the DCU.

Sasha Calle recently appeared in The Flash along with the return of the Michael Keaton Batman. The original plan and the ending of The Flash before James Gunn took over the DCU is said to have involved Henry Cavill returning as Superman side-by-side Sasha Calle as Supergirl with Michael Keaton sticking around in a mentor role, with the canceled Batgirl also involved. James Gunn is said to have nixed the ending and instead brought in George Clooney.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in development

James Gunn recently confirmed the DCU Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie is being written by Ana Nogueira; a search is on for a director.

“A hearty public welcome to Ana Nogueira to the DC Studios family. Ana is an amazing writer whose screenplay adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow is above and beyond anything I hoped it would be. We’re excited to be moving forward on this unique take on Supergirl in this beautiful, star-spanning tale,” posted Gunn on social media.

The film is officially described as a “science fiction adventure, which will be based on Tom King’s amazing, award-winning recent comics stories, presents a Supergirl viewers are not used to seeing.” Variety in their reporting also adds the films centers on “Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El and her superdog Krypto.”
