A batch of rumors surrounding the planned Supergirl movie has hit the net which again mentions Brainiac and Superman as well as a timetable for the release date.

It’s claimed that Supergirl has been pitched as a period piece, taking place before the arrival of Superman, with the movie taking place half the time in space and half on Earth leading up to the modern day. As has been previously rumored, it’s again claimed that Brainiac will serve as the main villain.

A separate rumor offers that the Supergirl movie could see the light of day in a couple of years. A writer for Forbes claims, “Supergirl will carry the Kryptonian banner for a little while, from what I hear.”

Supergirl Rumors Include Brainiac

Back in August first saw plans for the Supergirl movie announced which mentioned the possibility it could be a way of giving Superman a soft reboot. Reportedly, Henry Cavill and his managers are in heated discussions with Warner Bros. over a new contract, which could result in Cavill exiting the role.

It’s also been reported the Supergirl movie will feature the character as a teenager, which does make sense with the above rumor being a period piece and the movie following the character to the present day. It could be possible that Supergirl arrived on Earth before Superman (the Man of Steel movie seemed to hint at the possibility), and that maybe she gets captured by Brainiac, which explains why she is missing from the events in Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman and Justice League

Warner Bros. hasn’t officially announced Supergirl, so it remains to be seen if it will actually happen. It’s possible if Henry Cavill makes a cameo in the upcoming Shazam! that WB may go forward with Man of Steel 2. Melissa Benoist currently stars as Supergirl on The CW’s TV series, which is not a part of the DCEU films.
