Nintendo and Universal have released the final trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, giving fans one last look at the animated sequel before it hits theaters on April 1. The new spot is also pushing ticket sales, with the official promo telling fans, “It takes a lot of star power to save the galaxy.”
Final trailer released through Nintendo Direct
The final trailer was rolled out Monday as part of a special Nintendo Direct presentation focused entirely on the movie. Nintendo also posted the trailer on its official site and news page, confirming the April 1, 2026 theatrical release date.
Super Mario sequel heads into space
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie serves as the follow-up to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this time taking Mario into a galaxy-level adventure inspired by the Super Mario Galaxy games. Nintendo’s official movie page confirms the sequel is tied to the Galaxy brand and is part of the company’s latest push heading into release.
Same creative team returns
The movie brings back the main creative team from the 2023 hit. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic return to direct, Matthew Fogel wrote the screenplay, and Brian Tyler is back to compose the score. Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto are again producing.
Following a billion-dollar hit
Universal and Nintendo are hoping for another huge win. The first movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide, which is why expectations are high for the sequel. The new film is also being co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo, with Universal handling the worldwide release.
Tickets on sale now
With the final trailer now out, the marketing push has entered its last stretch. The official movie site confirms tickets are available now ahead of the April 1 debut.
