Summary
- The Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League game is a massive failure for Warner Bros. Discovery
- Hogwarts Legacy continues to be a huge success for the company
- The Suicide Squad game had significantly fewer players than expected, while Hogwarts Legacy maintains a strong player base
No surprise, as it is learned the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is a complete failure, while the Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy game continues to be a massive success.
The info is confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery themselves in its recent earnings report.
IGN, of all places, points out how big of a flop the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League game is, which of course, we all expected and knew was going to happen.
Massive flop confirmed by WBD
On Friday, during the company’s earnings call, Warner Bros. Discovery Chief Financial Officer, Gunnar Wiedenfels, went so far as to admit the game by Rocksteady Studios hadn’t done the business the company had hoped for since going on sale on February 2, only three weeks prior, saying it had “fallen short of our expectations.”
“This year, Suicide Squad, one of our key video game releases in 2024, has fallen short of our expectations since its release earlier in the quarter, setting our games business up for a tough year-over-year comp in Q1,” Wiedenfels said.
Hogwarts Legacy a massive success a year later
That “tough year-over-year comp” is the comparison between when Hogwarts Legacy was released February 10, 2023 to when Suicide Squad was release in February of this year.
It’s stating Hogwarts was a big success for the company in 2023 while the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League game is bombing for them, which means gaming revenue won’t be as high in 2024.
Sure enough, in its report released Friday for the Fourth Quarter 2023 Earnings Results, Warner Bros. Discovery mentions Hogwarts Legacy three times, where nearly a year later, the game continues to be a big success.
“Games revenue increased meaningfully due to the continued performance of Hogwarts Legacy, including the Q4 launch on the Nintendo Switch,” states the report.
Fans don’t like it
Further evidence Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is a huge failure comes from the number of players playing the game.
Less than a week after the game was released, the number of players plummeted and was even less than half of the failed Marvel’s The Avengers game that has been canceled, and now things are even worse.
On Steam, the game had a high of 13,459 concurrent players but now is less than 500.
- Who thought it was a good idea to create a game where the Justice League is killed? Especially the Kevin Conroy Batman, who recently passed away, and the Conroy Batman is responsible for the Batman Arkham games as well as putting Rocksteady on the map? I mean, Rocksteady, you just killed your f’n brand.
- Whose idea was it to have the woke ass Sweet Baby “narrative development and consultation studio” consult on the game and help write it? Talk about not having a fucking clue. Fire whoever came up with that idea immediately and never use them again.
- The utter incompetence in Hollywood dealing with superhero and pop culture IPs is simply un-f’n-believable as they’re absolutely f’n clueless.
