Disney and Lucasfilm have released three first-look images at the upcoming Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew.

The series follows four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, and they get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, meeting unlikely allies and enemies will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Skeleton Crew is also from Jon Watts who directed the three MCU Spider-Man movies and stars Jude Law. Ravi Cabot-Conyers also stars as Wim, Kyriana Kratter plays KB, Robert Timothy Smith plays Neel, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong plays Fern.

“It is a fun place to be, the universe of Star Wars,” Law fills in People. “And there are great references to old films and recent episodes and series. There’s a lot of originality and I hope that will bring the feeling of fun to those who watch it.”

Jude Law mentioned the thrill of seeing children “maneuver through places where they shouldn’t be” in the Star Wars universe. He added that “seeing children in that environment is thrilling and very, very unique.”

Law also described his younger cast members as being “in a constant state of confusion, jeopardy, and challenge.” He emphasized that the series is “very much about working together, overcoming fears, and confronting one’s own weaknesses in order to succeed.”

Watts also reveals the series introduces a new droid, SM 33, voiced by Nick Frost.

“He’s like a rusty old, cranky droid that sort of reluctantly helps the kids along the way,” he says with a laugh, noting how “fun” and “absolutely perfect” Frost’s contributions are. He adds, “The other thing about him is that he’s the first mate of a mysterious ship.”

Skeleton Crew premieres on Disney+ on Dec. 3.
