Squid Game returns for one last round. Netflix confirms the third and final season of its global hit drops on June 27, 2025. The streamer also released a teaser trailer and new images offering a first look at the upcoming episodes.
What Season 3 Is About
Season 3 of Squid Game picks up immediately after Season 2’s ending, where Gi-hun’s attempted revolt ends in disaster. Now at his lowest, Gi-hun is dragged back into the competition. He’ll face deadlier rounds, harder choices, and escalating consequences.
Front Man (In-ho) resumes his role hosting the games for the returning VIPs. His brother, Jun-ho, continues searching for the island, unaware there’s a traitor close by. Gi-hun’s spirit will be pushed further than ever before.

What Happened in Season 2
Gi-hun tried to organize a rebellion. It almost worked—until Front Man, disguised as Player 001, crushed the uprising and killed Gi-hun’s best friend Jung-bae. Gi-hun may not yet know who betrayed him, but the fallout fuels what’s to come in Season 3.

Hwang Dong-hyuk Returns
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk returns to lead the final season. He made Emmy history with Season 1 and now wraps the series he created. In his note to fans, he promised the final confrontation between Gi-hun and Front Man will define the story’s end.
“I am beyond excited to be writing this letter to announce the date for Season 2 and share the news of Season 3, the final season,” he wrote. “The fierce clash between [Gi-hun and Front Man’s] two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year.”
