With the release of the first Sonic The Hedgehog trailer comes fan backlash that sparks controversy and a redesign.

Following the release of the trailer, fans took to social media to complain about the look of Sonic in the movie, which sees the film’s director respond on Twitter noting they are going to redesign the character.

“Thank you for the support. And the criticism,” tweeted director Jeff Fowler. “The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast.”

As noted, they need to fix the CGI for Sonic fast as the movie gets released Nov. 8.

Complaints about the look of Sonic the Hedgehog in the movie include that the character has human teeth, with others comparing the design to Mike Myers in The Cat in the Hat.

The trailer on YouTube also has 487K dislikes to 287K likes. Check it out:
