Silver Sable & Black Cat Movie Finds Its Director

Silver Sable & Black Cat Movie Finds Its Director

Following the casting of Tom Hardy as Venom, Sony continues moving forward with their Spider-Man Cinematic Universe by naming Gina Prince-Bythewood as the director on their upcoming Silver Sable and Black Cat movie.

THR reports Gina Prince-Bythewood, who wrote and directed The Secret Life of Bees, will start filming on Silver and Black, Sony’s Spider-Man offshoot that centers on characters Silver Sable and the Black Cat, in the Fall. The actors have yet to be cast.

It’s further said Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are serving as producers, with Thor and Marvel Comics’ Chris Yost on board writing the latest script.

Marvel Studios is not involved, and as of right now, Spider-Man is set to return fully under Sony’s control following the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The report mentions both Venom and the Silver and Black movie will stand apart from the Marvel Studios MCU, and we can also guess that Spider-Man won’t be involved (at least until Spider-Man Homecoming 2 has finished).

Venom has an October 5, 2018 release directed by Ruben Fleischer.

Sony is also developing an animated Spider-Man feature film, again without Marvel Studios, featuring a different Spider-Man, the Ultimate Comics version, Miles Morales.
