Release info

About Shrek:

The Shrek franchise has grossed $2.9 billion globally and follow the adventures of Shrek, a grumpy but good-hearted ogre who initially just wants to be left alone in his swamp. However, his life takes unexpected turns as he embarks on various quests filled with humor, fairy tale twists, and heartwarming moments. The franchise, produced by DreamWorks Animation, consists of four main films, along with spin-offs and specials.

Shrek (2001)

The first movie introduces Shrek, who is forced to rescue Princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a dragon so that Lord Farquaad, the ruler of Duloc, will remove the fairy tale creatures invading his swamp. Alongside his talkative sidekick Donkey, Shrek discovers that Fiona has a secret—she transforms into an ogre at night. By the end, Fiona chooses love over appearances, and she and Shrek embrace their happily ever after as ogres.

Shrek 2 (2004)

Shrek and Fiona travel to the kingdom of Far Far Away to meet her royal parents, who are shocked that their daughter has married an ogre. The film introduces Puss in Boots, a swashbuckling feline, and features the manipulations of the Fairy Godmother, who wants her son Prince Charming to marry Fiona. With plenty of action and comedy, the movie ends with Fiona and Shrek proving that love transcends looks and expectations.

Shrek the Third (2007)

With King Harold’s passing, Shrek is next in line to rule Far Far Away, but he wants nothing to do with being king. He embarks on a journey to find Fiona’s long-lost cousin, Arthur (aka Artie), as the rightful heir. Meanwhile, Prince Charming gathers villains for revenge. The film balances humor with themes of responsibility and self-acceptance, as Shrek realizes he is about to become a father.

Shrek Forever After (2010)

Feeling overwhelmed by his repetitive life, Shrek is tricked into signing a contract with the sinister Rumpelstiltskin, creating an alternate reality where he never existed. Fiona is now a warrior leader, and his friends don’t recognize him. Shrek must undo the deal before time runs out. This film explores themes of appreciating what one has and staying true to oneself.
