Marvel Studios has cast Kingsley Ben-Adir as a villain in its upcoming Secret Invasion series coming to the Disney Plus streaming service.

It’s reported that Kingsley Ben-Adir will play a lead villain opposite Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelson as Talos.

It’s unknown what the role is, but some fans are guessing it could be a/the Super Skrull, as in the comics, Super Skrulls have the powers of various Marvel characters, with the Super Skrull Kl’rt known for having the powers of the Fantastic Four.

In the Secret Invasion Marvel Comics event, several variants of the Super-Skrull appear, utilizing the powers of Archangel, Captain America, Iron Man, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, and others.

Kingsley Ben-Adir is known for High Fidelity, Peaky Blinders, The OA, Deep State, and One Night in Miami where he plays Malcolm X.

Secret Invasion ties into Captain Marvel 2

At December’s Disney Investor Day event, Kevin Feige offered the following about Secret Invasion:

“Now I want to talk about a couple of projects that we haven’t announced, yet. The first of which is Secret Invasion coming to Disney Plus. Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelson from Captain Marvel returns as the Skrull, Talos. Next to Civil WarSecret Invasion is arguably the biggest crossover comic event in the last twenty years and we are bringing it to Disney Plus. It’s about a sect of Skrulls who have infiltrated every level of life on Earth.”

It’s also assumed Secret Invasion will tie directly into Captain Marvel 2 where it’s thought Zawe Ashton is playing the Skrull Queen Veranke, which would fit with Secret Invasion.

Captain Marvel 2 is due out Nov. 11, 2022, so it’s likely Secret Invasion will be released prior to that, maybe next year as filming is starting soon.
