Iconic actor Christopher McDonald has been cast in Secret Invasion, the Marvel series coming to Disney Plus.

McDonald, who is known for playing Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore and a plethora of other roles, is said to be playing a newly created character for the series that could cross over to the larger MCU, including appearing in movies and other Disney Plus Marvel limited series.

Secret Invasion also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn who reprise their roles from Captain Marvel, Nick Fury and Talos the Skrull, respectively.

The series is also said to star Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Killian Scott.

Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion follows the shapeshifting Skrulls

Similar to the comics, Secret Invasion is said to follow a group of shape-shifting aliens who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

“Now I want to talk about a couple of projects that we haven’t announced, yet. The first of which is Secret Invasion coming to Disney Plus,” said Feige at Disney’s Investor Day presentation back in December. “Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelson from Captain Marvel returns as the Skrull, Talos. Next to Civil War, Secret Invasion is arguably the biggest crossover comic event in the last twenty years and we are bringing it to Disney Plus. It’s about a sect of Skrulls who have infiltrated every level of life on Earth.”

It’s also been thought that Captain Marvel 2 might tie into Secret Invasion, but that may have changed with the realization Captain Marvel 2 is now called The Marvels and also that it now seems the Disney Plus shows are more standalone than directly connecting to the MCU movies — Doctor Stange was scrapped in WandaVision, and Feige recently refused to confirm Loki ties into Doctor Strange 2.
