A new Marvel mobile game is in development from a startup that two ex-Blizzard Entertainment employees founded in 2018 with Second Dinner.

The genre and the name of the Marvel game are currently being kept under wraps.

Second Dinner recently secured a $30 million investment from Chinese tech company NetEase (which runs Blizzard games in China) and an inaugural deal with Marvel to create a game.

Chief creative officer Ben Brode released an announcement video above, where they are all pretty stoked, and even offer they are currently hiring (more details on the Second Dinner website).

“In all likelihood, this will be the best game ever made,” Barnes said. “I made a spreadsheet, so I’m pretty sure. It’s going to take us a while to make, but we’re already having a lot of fun with the prototype. We can’t wait to show it to the people who we interview as candidates. Coincidentally, people should check out the new jobs we just posted.”

Brode was the game director for the digital card game at Blizzard, Hearthstone, that now has more than 100 million registered players and over a $1.5 billion market. Second Dinner CEO Hamilton Chu was also Hearthstone’s executive producer. A digital card game is already at Marvel with Battle Lines, so it will be interesting to see what Second Dinner has in store.

“The Second Dinner team has a strong track record of delivering quality games. With the resources and creative freedom they now have, we look forward to what they will come up with next,” NetEase VP Ethan Wang said in a statement about the investment.

“I’ve worked with Hamilton and Ben for years, and they are exactly who we want making Marvel games,” Jay Ong, EVP and head of Marvel Games at Marvel Entertainment, said in a statement. “They and the team they’ve assembled at Second Dinner have made some of the greatest games in history. And now, working with the Marvel Games team and playing in the Marvel Universe. … It’s going to be Amazing! Or maybe Spectacular! Or Incredible! Or Mighty! Or quite possibly all of the above!”

“We are thrilled to be partnering with @seconddinner! Please join us in welcoming them to the Marvel Games family!” Marvel Games tweeted.

“Hey @bbrode, I just ate lunch but I’m already hungry for that @seconddinner! Team @MarvelGames is hyped to be cooking with you, Hamilton Chu & your crew!” Bill Rosemann, VP & Creative Director of Marvel Games, tweeted
