It is officially announced that the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series has been canceled at Netflix after only one season.
The series that premiered last year brought back the original cast from the live-action movie including Michael Cera as the titular character, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, and more.
However, it failed to live up to the live-action movie. I think I was done after watching one episode due to the bait-and-switch garbage.
Bryan Lee O’Malley confirms Scott Pilgrim anime cancellation
News of the cancellation comes from Bryan Lee O’Malley who created the graphic novels and who created, wrote, and executive produced the anime Netflix series.
“It’s been one year since Scott Pilgrim Takes Off came out. It was an honor to work with all of the cast & staff around the world. It was like conducting a symphony orchestra every day,” O’Malley tweeted. “From the moment @bdgrabinski sparked the idea, the project felt like a one of a kind miracle.”
He continued, “Anyway, we were recently informed that the show will NOT return. As you know, we only intended one season, and called in a lot of favors to make it happen, so making more would have been nearly impossible. Still, I know some of you have been holding out hope.”
O’Malley added, “Sorry to all matthew fans and gideon fans, i know you will suffer the most.”
