Scarlett Johansson Wants Nothing To Do With Thunderbolts

Scarlett Johansson Wants Nothing To Do With Thunderbolts

It’s learned that Scarlett Johansson told Marvel to pull her name from the credits of the Thunderbolts movie, aka the New Avengers.

Scarlett Johansson was initially credited as an executive producer on Thunderbolts. She’s also listed as an executive producer on Black Widow.

We can guess that since characters from Black Widow appear in Thunderbolts, and that Florence Pugh is basically the new version of the character, it might have been a contractual obligation to give Scarlett Johansson an executive producer credit on Thunderbolts.

Scarlett Johansson Explains Why She Pulled Her Name from Thunderbolts

However, in an interview with David Habour, she reveals she had nothing to do with Thunderbolts and didn’t want her name attached.

Here’s the exchange:

Harbour told Johansson that her Black Widow character was “all over the movie” and asked if she’d watched it.

“No,” Johansson replied.

Harbour said, “Okay. You are an executive producer on it. Congratulations.”

Johansson interjected and clarified, “I asked to have my credit removed because I wasn’t involved.”

Harbour shot back and joked, “You hated the movie that much?”

Johansson replied, “No, you’re just wanting that to be the case.”

Harbour then said she would “be proud of us,” with Johansson adding, “I am proud of you.”

Thunderbolts Bombs at the Box Office — Johansson Wanted Out

It’s actually a normal in Hollywood for various people to get an executive producer credit and really have nothing to do with the film, again, a contractual thing. I think this is the first time I’ve actually heard someone requesting they get the credit removed. It’s probably safe to assume Johansson also didn’t get paid for it.

Maybe the box office has something to do with it as Thunderbolts is the second-worst performing MCU movie of all time, only ahead of The Marvels. The “New Avengers” won’t even crack the $400 million mark – it’s currently at $377M – and will likely lose Disney $100M or more.
