Ryan Reynolds has announced Deadpool 3 will feature Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine one more time.
Reynolds and Jackman shared the following video on social media which also announced the flick’s release date, September 6, 2024.
“Hey everyone, we’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we’ve been working very hard on the next Deadpool film for a good long while now,” Reynolds said in the video. “I’ve had to really search my soul on this one.”
Reynolds continued, “His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside. And I…I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here. And terrifying. But we did have one idea.”
The video then shows someone walking behind Reynolds.
“Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” asks Reynolds.
“Yeah, sure, Ryan,” Hugh Jackman replies as he walks upstairs and a version of Whitney Houston’s song but with “I will always love Hugh” is playing with the Deadpool 3 logo revealed as Wolverine’s claws slash through the image.
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld also reacted on social media, “Yes! All day long!!!!!!”

Regarding the D23 and Deadpool 3, we can guess that the details for the movie weren’t officially set, hence why no big announcement at the event.
Rumors have offered for a while that Hugh Jackman would be returning as Wolverine in the MCU and it has even been said Kevin Feige wants Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine one more time.
How it all will work out remains to be seen, but Marvel’s Phase 4-6 is called The Multiverse Saga, so maybe that explains both Deadpool and Wolverine in Deadpool 3.
