Disney announces that the Star Wars Han Solo movie has lost its directors as Phil Lord and Chris Miller have exited the flick.

Statements released on StarWars.com state the following:

“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,” stated Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

It’s noted the Han Solo movie still has a May 2018 release date.

It’s further reported that frontrunners to direct the Han Solo have emerged with Ron Howard being the top choice as well as Joe Johnston of The Rocketeer and Jumanji being considered.

Apparently the creative differences happened between Phil Lord and Chris Miller with head of LucasFilm Kathleen Kennedy and Han Solo writer Lawrence Kasdan.

Disney also had Tony Gilroy direct extensive re-shoots on the Gareth Edwards Star Wars Rogue One movie.
