Remember the "Why do Marvel movies look ugly" video?

Turns out the guy was on to something as Netflix has announced they are releasing and re-releasing content in a new brighter and colorful format, HDR, which will start with the re-release of Marvel's Daredevil.

Netflix released the following promo video for their new High Dyamic Range format which adjusts the color to make it more pleasing to the eye: "What is High Dynamic Range? Get a glimpse behind-the-scenes and see how shows on Netflix like Marvel's Daredevil are brought to life in the most stunning picture quality." HDR enables the lightest pixels to go up to 40x brighter than standard displays.

The video below shows the before and after HDR effect with footage from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The latter three Marvel series will all be re-released in HDR, with it's guessed the new episodes of Iron Fist in HDR. The three shows can be watched in their current format, SDR, on Netflix.
