It’s rumored that Ms. Marvel has Green Lantern-like powers in the MCU as Kevin Feige will be ditching the character’s comic book origin.

It’s claimed that Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan will have energy-based powers in the MCU, again similar to DC’s Green Lantern, and won’t be an Inhuman or have the stretchy powers from the comic book.

YouTuber Grace Randolph goes over the rumor and adds a bit of her own info where she mentions Ms. Marvel will have a new origin for the MCU and that her powers won’t come from her being an Inhuman, but a family heirloom that is a bracelet:

I’m hearing that Kamala Khan will not have her embiggen powers stretchy powers or whatsoever but she will instead be basically a purple Green Lantern, as you’ve heard a couple other scoopers reporting. I was the first to bring it up but at the time I was sworn to secrecy but now because some scoopers have unearthed it, I can tell you a little bit more, so I can confirm the purple Green Lantern thing, and by the way, that would allow her to have her famous big fists, they’d just be made of purple energy which I think could still work.

But I can go one further and give you some new information that you haven’t heart anywhere else and that’s the ability, these powers, this purple Green Lantern power, comes from that bracelet. Now in the comics, the bracelet is actually a family heirloom and a nod to her heritage and has nothing to do with her powers, but on the Disney Plus show she’ll find that bracelet and that’s what will give her her powers and start her on her journey. Whereas in the comics, she discovered she was an Inhuman when the Terrigen Mists went over the whole planet and it was a big thing but Kevin Feige hates the Inhumans because he hates Jeff Loeb.

So yes, she’s not an Inhuman and unless they change it in post, she’s not a mutant, either, and that’s all I can say for now. As for ditching her stretchy powers, it’s likely not just because they would be very expensive to do, although they do spend a lot of money on Disney Plus shows, but because Disney already has Mrs. Incredible aka Elastigirl, and Mr. Fantastic is quickly approaching, as Kevin Feige officially announced the Fantastic Four movie, and its director, Jon Watts, from the Spider-Man films.

DC’s Green Lantern gets his powers given to him from an alien and the Green Lantern ring, so we see how things are similar.

It’s also not a surprise that Feige is ditching the Inhumans from the MCU, as Feige’s Marvel Studios didn’t get along with Loeb’s Marvel TV who put out that awful ABC IMAX Inhumans series.

Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan:

The Marvels

Captain Marvel 2 dropped in favor of The Marvels

While covering the recent news about Captain Marvel 2 dropping “Captain Marvel” from its title in favor of The Marvels, Randolph also pointed out that it appears all the “Marvel” characters will have energy-based powers, as the Brie Larson Captain Marvel and WandaVision‘s Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau have energy powers, so Ms. Marvel also having Green Lantern powers fits.

Randolph also says the lightning bolt symbol that is a part of the costume of Ms. Marvel will be tied to her different MCU origin, as in the comic books the lightning bolt symbol was originally a part of the Carol Danvers Ms. Marvel costume, but the Brie Larson MCU version never wore that or was Ms. Marvel, so the MCU will have to explain things differently.

Randolph also says the set pics that showed Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan wearing low-top Chuck Taylor’s is a reference to VP Kamala Harris who is known for wearing the same sneakers, and the two share a similar name.
