Wesley Snipes Teases New Character Who Can Take On Blade

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21693:]]

Back at last month’s Comic-Con saw Wesley Snipes tease a return to Marvel with possibly a Netflix series.

Blade stated he has another project possibly in the works “that’s going to rock’em,” and now we hear more from Snipes who further teased the project at the SDCC.

Snipes spoke with CBR at Comic-Con, who finally published the interview, with Snipes mentioning if he doesn’t do another Blade, there is another character he may go with.

Well, we’ve had some discussions. We have had very positive and favorable discussions about the Blade character and other things they have in mind. We’ll see where it goes. For those Blade fans, if we never reprise Blade, I have another character that will stand toe to toe with Blade any day. It’s not done yet.

It should be noted that both times Snipes doesn’t specifically refer to the character as being a part of Marvel, just that the character can go “toe to toe” with Blade.

Is it possible Wesley Snipes is up for a DC role in their new Expanded Universe?

Or is Snipes in talks for another Marvel role? Any ideas who?

Henry Cavill Says Big Plans Are In Place For Justice League Movie Universe

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21692:]]

This weekend sees The Man From UNCLE open in theaters which stars Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill.

While discussing the movie, Cavill talked about the DC Cinematic Universe, Batman Vs. Superman, Man of Steel and even the upcoming (unrelated) Warcraft movie.

Regarding the DC Expanded Universe, Cavill offered everything is connected.

“There’s a big plan in place at WB for the whole DC franchise,” Cavill told Uproxx. “So, all of this stuff ties in. They’re not thinking from movie to movie, they’re thinking from a big tent pole type thing and each story has its own story, which is attached to the major issue. Yeah, there’s a big plan.”

Henry Cavill also happens to be a big Warcraft fan, so much so that he missed Zack Snyder’s initial call in regards to getting the Superman part on Man of Steel because he was playing the game. Cavill offers he used to play the game a lot, and Hammer and Cavill joke about Henry looking forward to Batman Vs. Superman more because Cavill isn’t getting paid for Warcraft.

“Yeah, Warcraft isn’t making me any money!” Cavill laughed. “But, yes, BvS, I’m really looking forward to. But with World of Warcraft, I’m excited to see what it’s like because that’s a hard thing to translate, and there are a lot of people who feel strongly about the lore in that, so we will see.”

Cavill also went on to confirm a connection between Man of Steel and the Batman Vs. Superman trailer (watch below), which showed heat vision destroying Metropolis with Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne looking on.

“That’s when Zod loses his mind and can’t control his heat vision and blasts everything out,” Cavill confirmed.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves. Watch: Roger Corman’s 1994 Fantastic Four Movie

With the new Fantastic Four tanking big-time, how about checking out the unreleased Roger Corman Fantastic Four movie from back in 1994.

The movie has been uploaded to the Daily Motion (above) or can even be watched on YouTube.

A documentary on Roger Corman’s FF movie was also released with DOOMED! The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s Fantastic Four.

In 1994, Roger Corman was tapped to produce this Marvel superhero story on a very small film budget. The film was ultimately shelved prior to distribution, but a VHS copy was mysteriously leaked and the movie became a darling of film bootleggers and, more recently, web pirates.  Rumors and speculation surrounding the production have become as much a part of the lore as the film itself.

Roger Corman’s Fantastic Four starred Alex Hyde-White as Dr. Reed Richards, Jay Underwood as Johnny Storm, Rebecca Staab as Susan Storm, Michael Bailey Smith as Ben Grimm, Kat Green as Alicia Masters, with Joseph Culp as Dr. Doom / Victor Von Doom and Carl Ciarfalio as The Thing.

Winona Ryder Confirms Beetlejuice 2

About nine months ago saw director Tim Burton confirm Winona Ryder will be returning for Beetlejuice 2, and now Ryder confirms herself while appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

“I think I can confirm it because Tim Burton did this interview,” Ryder told Meyers. “It was very hush-hush, top secret, ‘I don’t know what may happen, I don’t know,’ and then he was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah, we’re doing it, and Winona’s gonna be in it.’ So can I say…? I mean if he said it. But I really don’t know much more than anybody else.”

Back in February 2014, Michael Keaton stated he will be back for Beetlejuice 2 as well as he told MTV: “I’ve e-mailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff until relatively recently. I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another. Now it looks like he is involved. And without giving too much away we’ve talked to each other, and e-mailed each other, and if he’s in, it’s going to be hard not to be in.”

Beetlejuice debuted in 1988 with Winona Ryder playing Lydia Deetz.

The sequel currently has no release date, but does have a script being worked on.

Game Modes

  • Demolition
  • Kill Confirmed
  • Hardpoint
  • Capture the Flag
  • Search & Destroy

Specialists:

As you know, Specialists bring their own look, personality, voice and battle-hardened weapons and abilities to the fight. They can be ranked-up, delivering yet another layer to our progression system. Next week, PlayStation 4 players will start getting to know the default Specialists:

Callsign: Ruin

  • Real Name: Donnie Walsh
  • Bio: Raised in a military family in a tough neighborhood, he is fearless and headstrong, an infantry soldier through and through. He uses his unique abilities to rush into battle and surprise the enemy with sheer force.
  • Weapon: Gravity Spikes – Creates a devastating area of effect shockwave in the surrounding area.
  • Ability: Overdrive – Initiates a burst of speed that accelerates all movement for a short period of time.

Callsign: Outrider

  • Real Name: Alessandra Castillo
  • Bio: Developed keen observation skills growing up in the streets of the Favela, traversing the rooftops to watch the action of the city below, and this earned her a place in the ranks of the Brazilian Special Forces. She outsmarts enemies by finding them before they have a chance to know what hit them.
  • Weapon: Sparrow – Compound bow w/explosive bolts and variable range.
  • Ability: Vision Pulse – Pulses the surrounding area to reveal the location of all enemies within range.

Callsign: Prophet

  • Real Name: David Wilkes
  • Bio:  Wilkes got his first set of cybernetic augmentations while serving in the British Engineering Corps. Five years and many upgrades later, he is the embodiment of the cutting edge of human weaponry on the battlefield, using his superior technology to disrupt opponents’ tactics before moving in for the kill.
  • Weapon: Tempest – Charge-shot weapon that fires an arc of electricity, shocking targets and chaining to all nearby enemies.
  • Ability: Glitch – Flash back to a previous position with this system mod that hacks the battlefield simulation grid.

Callsign: Battery

  • Real Name: Erin Baker
  • Bio: The only daughter and youngest child of five siblings, Erin Baker always had to fight to get her way. Following in a family tradition of over 100 years of military service, and watching her brothers enter the US Army one-by-one, she finally graduated high school and enrolled herself. Driven to excel by her ongoing rivalry with her brothers, she volunteered for Airborne School, before crushing the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program. Heavily armored, she fearlessly operates ahead of the front lines, nimbly traversing urban environments, as she destroys HVTs with salvoes of advanced high-explosive munitions.
  • Weapon: War Machine – Grenade launcher that fires bouncing grenades which detonate after a short time or by hitting an enemy directly.
  • Ability:  Kinetic Armor – Reactive armor that deflects enemy bullets away from the body. Still vulnerable to headshots and non-bullet damage while active.

Rank up to levels 22 and 28 and you can also wreak havoc with:

Callsign: Seraph

  • Real Name: Zhen Zhen
  • Bio:  Militant enforcer of the 54I crime syndicate’s rule of law. She is known for her focused and unflinching combat discipline, striking fear within the ranks of the cartel.
  • Weapon: Annihilator – Massive high-caliber revolver that fires devastating rounds with increased bullet penetration.
  • Ability: Combat Focus – Triggers a bonus multiplier to score earned towards Scorestreaks for a period of time.

Callsign: Nomad

  • Real Name: Tavo Rojas
  • Bio: Last surviving member of an elite Rapid Deployment Force unit specialized in Jungle Warfare, Rojas has gone off-grid using his survivalist training to stay alive. At home in the wild, he uses his skills to turn the environment against his foes.
  • Weapon: H.I.V.E. – Deploys pod traps which release a deadly swarm of nano drones when triggered.
  • Ability: Rejack – Recover from near death by injecting a nanoparticle serum into the bloodstream.

We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves, but…

After the first few days of progression, we’ll also make a few additional Specialists available. As you rank up and progress during the week, you’ll also gain access to:

Callsign: Reaper

  • Real Name: Experimental War Robot (EWR)
  • Bio: Started as an expensive military R&D project to supplement Special Operations soldiers in the field, the EWR was a cutting-edge prototype combat robot, the most advanced in the world at the time. Budget overruns and embarrassing political incidents left the project all but a resource for scrap metal, except for the one prototype that remained.
  • Weapon: Scythe – Robotic arm that transforms into a high power Mini-Gun.
  • Ability: Psychosis – Infiltrate enemy DNI systems to simulate three decoy clones.

Callsign: Spectre

  • Real Name: CLASSIFIED
  • Bio: Next to nothing is known about the presumed wet-works Specialist, Spectre. The designation itself is a codename agreed upon by the various agencies that have pooled their intelligence on unsolved assassinations, inferring his or her existence based on either evidence found at the scene or from fragmentary reports given by shaken bystanders.  Despite heavy redaction, all accounts suggest an individual capable of extraordinary stealth, able to evade or neutralize the most sophisticated of manned or automated security set-ups.  In every case, Spectre’s victims have been ‘handled’ with surgically precise mid-line wounds with rarely any signs of struggle.
  • Weapon: Ripper – Spectre deploys mono-edged twin blades before gracefully dissecting victims with lethal, surgical precision.
  • Ability: Active Camo: Advanced meta-materials rapidly change their properties, guiding photons over their surfaces instead of reflecting them, rendering Spectre temporarily invisible.

Weapon Paintshop

The new Weapon Paintshop feature goes beyond the Emblem Editor and lets players create custom graphics that are displayed on the sides of their guns. With up to 64 layers applied to three sides of the weapon, players will be able to create their own signature variants with an = infinite number of possible combinations.

Conclusion

Since this is a Beta – and because it’s important that we stress test the game in particular ways – we will have gated progression caps along the way.

Also, note that Arena won’t be available in the Beta; however, we suspect that won’t take the competitive edge off of the games being played.

No Guardians of the Galaxy 2 For D23 Expo

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21686:]]

Earlier it was learned there will be no Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer at this weekend’s Disney D23 Expo, and now just in case if you were wondering, there will also be nothing for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is still a ways off, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise, but a fan asked director James Gunn on Twitter if he will be at the D23 Expo.

Gun replied they don’t have anything ready to announce for the event.

While no Guardians will be present, something is planned for Captain America: Civil War on Saturday.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” has a May 5, 2017 release.

Following The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar, Christopher Nolan‘s latest project is a short film called Quay, which is about twin animators, Stephen and Timothy Quay, who grew up in Pennsylvania, but worked in London.

Nolan is releasing The Quay Brothers in 35mm as part of an 11-city tour that sees three of the Quay’s film screened as well as Nolan’s short film.

Full details can be found at zeitgeistfilms.com, with info in the synopsis below as well.

The extraordinary Quay Brothers are two of the world’s most original filmmakers. Identical twins who were born in Pennsylvania in 1947, Stephen and Timothy Quay studied illustration in Philadelphia before going on to the Royal College of Art in London, where they started to make animated shorts in the 1970s. They have lived in London ever since, making their unique and innovative films under the aegis of Koninck Studios.

EW.com debuted the following trailer:

Synopsis:

“American identical twins working in London, stop motion animators Stephen and Timothy Quay (born 1947 in Norristown, Pennsylvania) find their inspiration in Eastern European literature and classical music and art, their work distinguished by its dark humor and an uncanny feeling for color and texture. Masters of miniaturization, they turn their tiny sets into unforgettable worlds suggestive of long-repressed childhood dreams. These three Quay masterworks, selected by director Christopher Nolan, feature broken pencils and lead shavings in IN ABSENTIA (2000; “a dazzling piece of work” – The Guardian); a porcelain doll’s explorations of a dreamer’s imagination in THE COMB (1991; “most beautiful of their recent films” – The New Yorker); and the nightmarish netherworld of STREET OF CROCODILES (1986; “their crowning achievement” – Film Comment); and for the first time ever, QUAY (2015), Nolan’s new short film revealing the inner workings of the Brothers’ studio. All four films in 35mm.” –Film Forum

Power Rangers Movie Characters Revealed

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21681:]]

A new Power Rangers movie is currently in development, which is being directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) with a script written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

The Power Rangers movie has a planned January 13, 2017 release, and now character descriptions have been made known (via Collider):

Jason – 17 years old, the makings of someone or something great if he would just get out of his own way. Jason was a legend of this town—a freshman quarterback with the skills to take him all the way. People knew his name. Children wore his jersey. Until, one night Jason wrapped his car around a pole and busted out his knee. Everything Jason was going to become ended in an instant. And with it, he lost himself. When we meet him at the start of the film, he’s a kid in need of redemption. By the end, he’ll be leading this disparate group of teens to shed their individual baggage and find who they truly are.

Kimberly – 17 years old, unconventionally cool all in a way the popular girls wish they were. In fact, she was one of those girls, but isn’t anymore. Not since she’s returned to school after an absence of 6 months. Rumors are flying as to why; rumors she seems not to care about, because she’s come back with this new rebel-without-a-cause, edgy attitude. But the truth is, it’s all masking a deep secret that makes her feel profoundly vulnerable.

Trini – 17 years old, mysterious and extremely bright. Her parents constantly move for work, making Trini the perpetual new girl to any school. A loner who owns it, Trini is self-sufficient, contemplative, but always observant. All she wants is to find her gang of friends, but she’ll never admit it – least of all to herself.

Billy – 17 years old, slight and awkward. Billy is challenged in his abilities to communicate and interact socially. Whip-smart and sweet, but always odd. Sometimes in a fun way, sometimes not, Billy is a kid with no filter. Showing his emotions, understanding sarcasm, and dealing with his OCD is a constant challenge. Has never really had any friends and instantly gravitates towards Jason.

Zack – 17 years old, always the life of the party. Filled with bravado and swagger, Zack’s tough and cool on the exterior. A charming guy who’s never had trouble with the one-liner, nor lacked confidence around women. A great athlete that’s never wanted to play on any team but his own. Zack advertises everything about himself, except the truth, which is that he lives in a trailer park with his single mom, and because of it, feels deeply inferior to all his peers.

No Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer At Disney D23 Expo

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Spot

The Force is not strong with this weekend’s Disney D23 Expo.

It’s learned Disney will not be showing off any new footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Disney’s Anaheim convention.

“It is true, we are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise,” director J.J. Abrams told EW. “In the fall, there’ll be a trailer.”

Abrams didn’t reveal a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer at last month’s Comic-Con, but did show off behind-the-scenes footage.

A couple of seconds of new footage did debut in the recent Star Wars: The Force Awakens international spot (watch above).

Moving forward it will be interesting to see how Disney and Abrams market the movie. For example, Avengers 2 saw probably 75% or more of its footage online prior to the movie’s release (which I felt spoiled a lot of it); possibly Abrams will be going the opposite route for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and won’t be previewing much, other than what’s contained in a couple of trailers.

It is thought Marvel Studios will be releasing footage at the D23 Expo from Captain America: Civil War and possibly Spider-Man.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has a December 18, 2015 release directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

Godzilla 2 To Be Bigger & Better

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21679:]]

A big complaint of the 2014 Godzilla movie was that it only featured around 8 minutes of the King of the Monsters.

About a month ago saw word that fans’ complaints should be answered with the sequel, and now the writer on Godzilla 2 says more of the same.

Max Borenstein, who is also the executive producer and writer on the Minority Report TV series, told Collider that Godzilla 2 will be bigger and better.

“I’m writing it now, and it’s really going to be great,” Borenstein offered. “I don’t want to go off book and tell you anything that I’m not allowed to tell you. The response to the first film was really exciting, but now that that world is established, we can do bigger and even better things. We’re really stoked.”

Following completion of Star Wars, director Gareth Edwards is set to return for Godzilla 2 in which Borenstein says he hopes the two can get together and closely work on the sequel.

“Yeah, I hope. He’s making Star Wars right now, so he’s a little preoccupied, but yeah,” Borenstein said. “Gareth is amazing. It’s exciting to get to work with him again. One of the fun things about that experience is the same fun that it’s been on [Minority Report], where you really get to have your fingers in the pie.”

“Godzilla 2” has a June 8, 2018 release date.
