Captain America: Civil War Trailer Description From Philippines Comic-Con

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22180:]]

Marvel showed off the Captain America: Civil War trailer at the Philippines Comic-Con which saw Paul Bettany in attendance.

From all accounts the Captain America: Civil War trailer was the same one from last month’s D23 Expo, with possibly some extended footage.

A user on Reddit offered the following description:

So as you all know, a big major convention was held in my country for what I think is the first time. One of the biggest draws of this event was the scheduling of an exclusive sneak peek at Civil War along with a Paul Bettany appearance. Went to the venue as early as I could, got in line and waited diligently for about 2 hours. They surprisingly made an effort to prevent bootlegging; they confiscated our phones etc which I still felt wasn’t enough. Someone could have probably slipped a GoPro or a smaller device undetected.

We wait for around half an hour or so then Paul Bettany goes in the room and the crowd goes wild. No fanfare, no big “PLEASE WELCOME PAUL BETTANY!!” intro. The man just walks in out of nowhere with a bunch of bodyguards and everyone loses their minds. He makes his way through the room and sits a few feet away from where I was sitting. The presentation begins as a Disney rep goes in and does a short intro about the movie. Then the trailer happens!!!

DISCLAIMER: It was without a doubt the D23 trailer that everyone here pretty much talked about several weeks back. It even had a watermark.

Most of your probably know what that trailer looked like but here are my takeaways from viewing it twice. Yes we got to see it twice.

Redwing seriously looks amazing!! The trailer does open with Cap’s team in the African Market. Falcon mans a stealthy Redwing making its way under a van filled with explosives. Cap orders the team to attack. Falcon does an super awesome dive from the rooftop he’s in and doesn’t pull out his wings until landing closely.

We see another van open and Crossbones steps up along with his goons; with the most prominent goon being Ex-Thanos actor Damion Poitier.. Black Widow makes her way to the market in a very cool tracking shot reminiscent of her sequence in IM2 and does her signature leg wrap on Poiter. Falcon also does a pretty cool set of combat moves utilizing his wings.

You know those on set pics of Cap and the crowd screaming at something above them in fear? It’s Cap throwing a grenade in the air. Someone fires a grenade at him (I think it’s Crossbones) and it latches on to his shield. Cap tosses it in the air before it explodes. As Cap flinches at the air explosion, Crossbones kicks him hard from behind and their fight happens. I didn’t notice anything different from the D23 descriptions in this one. Cap dismantles one of Crossbones’ gauntlets pretty quickly. Crossbones then pops a blade out of the other gauntlet. Again, Cap beats him up and cracks his helmet. We don’t get a good look at Rumlow’s burnt face here.

VO by General Ross – looking a lot slimmer since his TIH appearance. Talks about vigilantism. We see a shot of – what looks like – Steve Rogers preventing a helicopter from crashing in slowmo. He pushes it away with one hand as his other hand is against a railing. We see his Avengers team going through a series of control rooms. They are led by Martin Freeman’s character. In the blink-and-youll-miss-it moments he had, definitely felt more like a Henry Gyrich than an Everett Ross.

The Ant-Man post credits scene happens. Bucky does remember Steve. He tells him his mother’s name and how he used to put newspaper in his shoes – you know D23 stuff. Best part of this scene is how Bucky delivers that line with an expression of relief and pain. Steve does a heartfelt smile. You just know how happy he is to have his bestfriend back.

Quick cuts of what looks like Cap smashing a soldier into a column. Bucky in his red jacket outfit punching other soldiers. Several shots of Crossbone with a different looking mask; this time with a yellow looking visor. These Crossbone shots are intersected with scenes that are set in this building. We get to see that truck flip.. More shots of Crossbones walking down a hall. Lots of flickering lights in what appears to be the control center I mentioned earlier.

One of the more interesting shots in the trailer was Cap and Bucky walking in snow towards a secret looking base in full superhero attire. The shot was barely 2 seconds but man did Bucky & Cap standing side by side in a mission look fucking good.

Holy shit that shot of the funeral scene. You see that scene happening – where they’re carrying the casket in the aisle – and how beautifully framed it was, expect the tears to flow. Considering how we pretty much know who’s funeral that is, Cap carrying the casket makes this scene heartbreaking to watch.

Those Tony Stark lines to Steve about how he wanted to punch him in his perfect teeth? I was expecting it to be during a fight. Those scenes were set in a conference room, probably from the same venue where those control rooms are. We see a helmetless Iron Man open an elevator door with his hands and he has a huge black eye. Another with Tony Stark walking behind General Ross.

Super fast glances at the other heroes. Hawkeye doing Hawkeye stuff with his bow. The Vision pondering as he plays chess in a suit. There’s also a super fast shot of Black Panther revealing his claws as he’s locking up against Hawkeye’s bow.

We then see that infamous airport fight scene thanks to those leaked pics from a few weeks back. The money shot of Cap’s team running though the tarmac was unimpressive to be honest. One dude online said it best – “It looked like the scene in Anchorman when all the news teams converged in that alley and fought.”. It looked really goofy and awkward. But then again, this is the D23 trailer they cut a month ago. A ton could be added to that scene for some kickass superhero flair.

That end tag with Ant-Man was what you’d expect it to be. The theater went insane just seeing Paul Rudd in the trailer. He’s going to be one of the best additions in the movie no doubt. He cops a feel of Steve’s pecs.

That’s pretty much all I have in mind now. I might remember some scenes later. There’s probably more detailed info out there but will definitely update this thread if more come to mind. There was a Q&A after the panel which I was not able to attend thanks to a mixup in the schedule. Feel free to ask questions!

Tom Hiddleston Might Not Return For Thor 3?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22177:]]

Something seems amiss in the land of Asgard as Loki’s glorious purpose may be coming to an end.

Josh Whedon recently let it be known that Marvel initially told him Tom Hiddleston was unavailable for The Avengers: Age Of Ultron; however, when Whedon talked to the actor himself, Hiddleston agreed to do the movie — but Marvel cut Hiddleston’s scene anyway.

Now having Loki featured in Thor 3 seems to be up in the air as well, and this is after Kevin Feige already confirmed Hiddleston for Thor 3.

Tom Hiddleston’s latest movie, Crimson Peak, hits next month, and Coming Soon talked with the actor about Loki, who mentioned he doesn’t even know if Loki is going to happen again.

You know, I don’t know. I think I won’t be able to help it if I ever play him again, and I just don’t know when that’s gonna happen, if that’s gonna happen.

It’s possible Hiddleston could just be playing coy, as the actor does mention he has talked with Chris Hemsworth.

I would never lose [Loki’s] dimension, but it’s so interesting. I’ve talked with Chris Hemsworth, how those characters have changed as we’ve changed. It’s five years ago since I played him for the first time. That’s a long time ago. So who knows what I’ll be cooking up!

Tom Hiddleston also responds “maybe” when it’s mentioned Loki will have more tricks up his sleeve, which may point to Hiddleston’s return as the Asgardian Trickster not being guaranteed.

Almost a year ago saw Kevin Feige confirm that Tom Hiddleston would be returning for Thor: Ragnarok when Marvel announced their Phase 3 slate of movies, so perhaps our worries are unfounded, but at one time there was even talk of a Loki movie (at least among the fans), and with Loki being cut from Avengers 2, Marvel seems to be missing the boat. Additional Loki scenes were added to Thor: The Dark World, so it could be possible Loki was cut from Avengers 2 as to not to oversaturate the character’s appearances; however, can there ever be enough of Loki?

“Crimson Peak” hits October 15, 2015; “Thor: Rangarok” has a November 3, 2017 release.

Sebastian Stan Responds To Zack Snyder’s Marvel Bashing

Zack Snyder recently took a few jabs at Marvel (and Ant-Man) mentioning they are bubblegum movies and are the flavor of the week.

Now Sebastian Stan weighs in on Snyder’s Marvel bashing in the above video.

Yeah, I’m sitting here and I’m listening to you and I’m thinking, “Do I want to fire some shots at DC right now, at Zack Snyder?” I read some of those comments where he said something about Batman and Superman, I can’t remember where I read that, somewhere… Something about, “It’s not going to be your flavor-of-the-week Ant-Man.” And I was like, “Oh thanks, Zack. That’s great. Way to do something original.” But I would say we’re still making something very original in our own way. I mean, the Russos are coming in and taking something people are used to, and they’re shaping it up and changing it in a very different way. They’re not trying to mimic a better Christopher Nolan movie or something like that… I think Marvel is very away of its capabilties and brand.

Sebastian Stan returns as the Winter Soldier for Captain America: Civil War and also comments about potential complaints the movie might be an “Avengers 2.5”

I mean, I know everybody’s treating it like there are all these Avengers in it, like it’s Avengers 2.5 or something, and there’s an element of that, but it’s still at the end of the day very much a Captain America film. It’s different from The Avengers, it’s definitely its own entity, totally connects to the last Winter Soldierfilm, and the Russos’ stamp is all over it.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

ACTIVISION ANNOUNCES RECORD-BREAKING DAY-ONE FOR DESTINY: THE TAKEN KING

Most Downloaded Day-One Game in PlayStation History

More People Played Destiny on The Taken King Launch Day
Than at the Original Destiny Launch

Bungie and Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. announced today that Destiny: The Taken King broke the record for the most downloaded day-one game in PlayStation history and set a new day-one franchise benchmark for both total players and peak online concurrency, surpassing the original Destinylaunch day last September, which was itself the biggest new video game franchise launch in history.

Destiny: The Taken King is officially the most downloaded game on day-one in PlayStation history and set a new benchmark for both total Destiny players and peak online concurrency on day-one, so it’s safe to say the Destiny franchise continues to gain momentum,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “Along with our talented partners at Bungie, we cannot wait to watch the community continue to grow and tackle the King’s Fall Raid kicking off on Friday.”

For players who are new to Destiny, everything needed to jump in is available in the Legendary Edition which includes: Destiny, Expansion I: The Dark Below, Expansion II: House of Wolves, and features The Taken King, a tremendous value for the scope of the content offered.  Those who have already purchased Destiny and both expansions can purchase a digital copy of The Taken King by itself. Both Destiny: The Taken King and the Legendary Edition are available at thousands of retail stores around the world and also are available for digital download.

PlayStation gamers receive access to a host of additional content for The Taken King, including a Strike, a Crucible map, three sets of armour and an exotic weapon, timed exclusive until at least autumn 2016.  Both The Taken King and the Legendary Edition include a character boost, called “Spark of Light,” a one-time increase to level 25 which is the minimum level required to play The Taken King content.

With a new storyline introducing Oryx, Crota’s vengeful father, an all-new destination, three new Guardian subclasses, a massive arsenal of new armour, weapons and exotics, new Strikes and Crucible maps, and the new ‘King’s Fall’ Raid that will put players to the ultimate test, there has never been a better time to jump in to “Become Legend,” particularly for new players beginning their journey as a Guardian. The Taken King major expansion takes players deep into the chambers of a new destination, the ‘Dreadnaught’ ship, to defeat Oryx, and his Taken Army.

The Taken King is rated PEGI 16, and is available for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system (PlayStation Plus required for some features), PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system and Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft (Xbox Live Gold required for some features).

Star Trek Beyond Pushed Back Two Weeks

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22155:]]

Paramount has decided to push back the release date for Star Trek Beyond.

The film will now be released two weeks later on July 22, 2016 instead of July 8, 2016.

The reason cited for the short delay is that Paramount feels the later July release date for Star Trek Beyond is better after seeing the success of the recent Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, which had a similar later July release.

Justin Lin is currently filming the third film of the new Star Trek franchise which stars Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba.

Guillermo Del Toro Says Pacific Rim 2 Is Still A Go

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22152:]]

An earlier report made mention that Pacific Rim 2 has been put on indefinite hiatus, thought to be due to a squabble between Legendary Entertainment and Universal Studios.

Now that news is being contradicted by Guillermo del Toro.

EW.com caught up with the director to get the scoop with Guillermo del Toro stating as far as he is concerned, Pacific Rim 2 is still happening.

“We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks,” Guillermo Del Toro said. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s not gone. We’re still on it.”

Del Toro did confirm Pacific Rim 2 has been delayed.

“It moved further,” he said. “I may do another movie in the middle.”

Del Toro did pass on WB’s Justice League Dark movie for Pacific Rim 2, but now with word of PR2 being delayed, we can hope Guillermo Del Toro will now do JLD.

Pacific Rim 2 was originally due out some time in 2017.

Booster Gold / Blue Beetle Movie Said To Be In The Works

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22151:]]

It’s being said Warner Bros. is developing a Booster Gold / Blue Beetle movie which will be directed by Greg Berlanti, the producer behind the likes of Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Blindspot and Pan.

The info comes from Tracking Board who states the film will be more of a comedy superhero buddy cop movie, rather than the serious approach of Man of Steel and Batman Vs. Superman.

Blue Beetle was at one time wanted for Berlanti’s Arrow universe; however, DC shot them down and in turn suggested they use Atom. It’s long been speculated that Blue Beetle would be a part of the DC Cinematic Universe.

Regarding Booster Gold, SyFy was supposed to be developing a TV series for the character; however, that was seemingly swept under the rug as no news has surfaced for quite some time. Obviously, with this news, we see DC had other plans for the character.

Transformers 5 & Animated Movie On The Way; Michael Bay In Talks To Direct

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22150:]]

Following the recent rumors surrounding Transformers 5, now it’s said the fifth movie in the franchise will be going into production this June with Michael Bay presently in talks to return to direct.

Deadline also reports a Transformers animated origin story focusing on Cybertron is also in the works.

Paramount recently put together a Transformers writing room to generate ideas for their Transformers Universe, with it overseen by Akiva Goldsman, who will be writing Transformers 5. The writing room also consists of Ant-Man writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari who are behind the upcoming animated movie. Making up the rest of the group is Zak Penn (Last Action Hero, The Avengers), Jeff Pinker (Lost), Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Christina Hodson, Lindsey Beer, Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down), Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

It’s said Transformers 5 will be a sequel to the last movie with Mark Wahlberg said to star. The initial report did state Michael Bay was directing, but Bay stated it’s not official: “No, it’s not official. I have not committed to any idea as of yet. Just met with Steven [Spielberg] and we are discussing.”

In addition to Transformers 5 and the origin animated movie, it’s reported the other writers in the group have generated ideas for futher movies and possible spinoffs with it looking likely scripts are next coming from Pinkner, then one by Beers.

Regarding those earlier Transformers 5 rumors, which were said to come from Lockdown voice actor Mark Ryan, the actor took to Facebook to shoot them down as, for some reason, some website were misquoting Ryan stating he mentioned Unicron and the Quintessons.

I’m totally stunned about the current and false online chatter about TF-5 and comments I did not make! I have never given an official interview regarding TF-5, nor would I even utter the words Unicron or Quintessons! I’m not in a position to! This is all online speculation and hype because I was misquoted from a casual chat with a fan at an event in the UK.

I sincerely have no idea what the storyline for TF-5 will be, or who/what’s in it, or even who will direct it! It’s all secret until the movie is released so as not to spoil the excitement for the fans. Sorry guys! I did not say what you are reading online and even if I knew, I would not tell! Always check with the original source directly first before posting speculation please. Cheers

Director Rupert Wyatt Leaves Gambit

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22145:]]

Following the earlier rumors of Channing Tatum dropping out of Gambit (which turned out to be not true), now director Ruper Wyatt has departed from the movie.

THR cites a changing script, ballooning budget and extended shoot as reasons for Wyatt leaving Gambit.

Deadline has more of the same in that the change in production date of November to March caused a conflict with another movie Ruper Wyatt is attached to.

Wyatt did release the following statement:

“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”

It is noted Fox is currently eagerly looking for a new director.

Gambit has a planned October 7, 2016 release also said to star Léa Seydoux.

Simon Kinberg Says Apocalypse’s Costume Is Cosmic

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22142:]]

Suffice to say there has just be a tad bit of outcry regarding the look of Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse.

When the first images were released the internet exploded with comparisons to the Power Rangers bad guy, Ivan Oooze.

And I think rightfully so.

Honestly, I can’t believe how someone could be a part of a multi-million dollar movie and actually approve of the look.

Yeah, it’s that bad.

Now the latest is that MTV caught up with writer and producer Simon Kinberg – who also worked on Fantastic Four – asking what’s up with Apocalypse’s costume. Here’s what he had to say:

I feel like we have been, the ’X-Men’ franchise, has been growing a little bit more into science fiction. I think ’Days of Future Past’ with time travel and the Sentinels took us into a slightly broader, more science fiction world than the films had occupied in the past,” he said. “We felt like the movies were ready for something that was slightly more, let’s say, cosmic. Once we made the decision for Apocalypse to be the villain at the center of the movie, we wanted to be true to the comics, which are sort of, like you, say, not costume, but it’s not just a guy in a helmet. It is more cosmic.”

First, Kinberg mentioning the Sentinels in X-Men: Days Of Future Past isn’t a good sign in my book as their designs in the movie were pretty bad as well. The older ones were akin to some kind of 1970s dryer, and the future versions were straight out of Thor. Kinberg actually says they want to be true to the comics — but they never are; not with the X-Men costumes, not with Wolverine, the Sentinels, and definitely not with Apocalypse. Three strikes, you’re out, dude. Wait, that’s at least four.

Kinberg does say the look of Apocalypse in the movie is based on cosmic. That’s rather interesting as there was a rumor a while back that Apocalypse himself was actually alien (which Singer debunked); however, Kinberg may be hinting toward Apocalypse using the Celestials tech that’s used in the comics. I will say, that Kinberg calling the look of the Apocalypse costume “cosmic” comes off as insulting coming from a cosmic fan.

Fans have also been wondering if Apocalypse will change his size in the movie. An interview a while back with Oscar Isaac saw mention they are going to make it their own thing (which is never good), which seemed to insinuate Apocalypse won’t be all that large in nature.

We had to do some adjustments here and there and be like, alright, maybe this is too alien. He also is someone who people would want to follow and not just be terrified of. So the balance, and then making sure that there’s some great elements from the comic but also making our own thing as well. In the comic, he generally is like 12 feet, 600 pounds.

While there is a lot of negative talk surrounding the look of Apocalypse, in Singer and Kinberg’s defense, there were similar thoughts surrounding Evan Peters’ Quicksilver in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and we all know Quicksilver’s scene stole the show.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Isaac.

Josh Brolin Talks Thanos Against Avengers & Meeting A Fan (Video)

While doing the press rounds as of late for Sicario, Josh Brolin has been also talking Thanos. Brolin previously made mention that we’ll see Thanos soon and also that he didn’t hesitate when deciding to do the role (as well as talking Batman).

Now Brolin talks about how the Mad Titan will be taking on the Avengers and also recalls the first time he realized just how big his involvement with the Mad Titan is when he met a fan at a comic store.

Above you can check out the video. Here’s the blurb:

It’s the type of character where it’s him against all of the Avengers, which is fantastic in itself, but doing it’s a very different type of acting. So I was a little nervous in the beginning, and it wasn’t until I was doing [Sicario], I walked into a Albuquerque comic book store, and I saw a guy who recognized me as Thanos, who basically like had a minor stroke, and I was afraid because his reaction was so severe — more severe than I’ve ever seen any reaction of any actor or somebody recognizable — and I realized Thanos was his life. Thanos was his savior. The whole thing was his — it’s like he woke up in the morning and swallowed and ate these words in these comic books. So it means a lot. So I get the responsibility, and I take it with great care.

Josh Brolin has “Everst” coming out September 25, with “Sicario” hitting October 2nd.
