It’s rumored the twelfth game in the franchise will be “Mortal Kombat 1” and that Homelander from The Boys and Peacemaker from The Suicide Squad will be playable characters, with creator Ed Boon seemingly teasing a big announcement soon.

The rumor about the new game titled “Mortal Kombat 1” comes from Twitter user billbil-kun who claims the game will be for next-gen consoles and the Nintendo Switch.

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon seemed to tease the “1” as part of the title of the game as he tweeted a clock that stopped at one.

Update: Ed Boon posted a new tweet that may shed doubt it’s actually an MK game.

“Ummm…. for the record. We never konfirmed our next game is a Mortal Kombat game,” Boon tweeted. Check out the tweets below.

Mortal Kombat 11 was released on April 23, 2019 so it’s been over four years since a new game has been released.
