Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige’s answer to The Batman is almost here as a new Moon Knight featurette and three posters have been released ahead of the March 30 premiere on Disney Plus.

And by an answer to Batman, I mean that it’s probably no coincidence that Moon Knight is getting released right around the time of The Batman, as  Moon Knight looks to be Marvel’s first “brutal” and mature show.

Feige even said he wasn’t sure if Disney Plus would allow them to go so far and was surprised when they did.

“He’s brutal,” Feige recently told Empire Magazine about Moon Knight. “It’s been fun to work with Disney+ and see the boundaries shifting on what we’re able to do. There are moments [in the series] when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is, ‘We’re gonna pull back on this, right?’ No. We’re not pulling back. There’s a tonal shift. This is a different thing. This is Moon Knight.”

I’m actually looking forward to the series a lot as I hope, similar to The Batman, it isn’t full of goofy Marvel jokes and is on the more serious side. I also hope the production is a lot better than what we’ve seen with Disney Plus’ Hawkeye and Boba Fett.

The story follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, and May Calamawy; Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Grant Curtis, Brad Winderbaum, Oscar Isaac, Mohamed Diab, and Jeremy Slater are the executive producers, with Trevor Waterson and Rebecca Kirsch serving as co-executive producers; Jeremy Slater is the head writer.
