Prime Video’s Blade Runner 2099 series has found its lead with Michelle Yeoh.
The limited series is a sequel to the 2017 Blade Runner 2049 movie starring Ryan Gosling directed by Denis Villeneuve and the original 1982 movie starring Harrison Ford from Ridley Scott.
Both Yeoh’s role and the plot are under wraps, but it’s likely Yeoh will be playing a Blade Runner, similar to Gosling and Ford, and obviously that the series is set 50 years after the 2017 movie and set in the year 2099.
We can also guess, similar to the previous two movies, that Yeoh discovers something that is amiss while investigating replicants. Or maybe this time there is a twist and Yeoh stars as a replicant who investigates humans.
The franchise is an adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Blade Runner 2099 is now filming; Silka Luisa is the showrunner who is known for Strange Angel, Halo, and Shining Girls.
Michelle Yeoh recently was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She comes off the recently canceled The Brothers Sun on Netflix after one season and is known for Star Trek: Discovery which is also ending after five seasons. Yeoh will star in the Star Trek: Section 31 spinoff, and well as the next three Avatar films as Dr. Karina Mogue.
